marc smith
Following on from some of the more "unusual" subjectsDiesel Locomotive "Margam Castle" on the little NG tourist railway in Margam Park It's a nice long-ish run, for one of these tourist railways and runs alongside a lake, through some rare breeds farmland, and lovely countryside...I saw a couple of baby deer, hiding in the woods when I took the ride a few weeks back.... EDIT: Apologies for sounding like the Margam tourist office Edited July 18, 2013 by marc smith
bike2steam
Of the thirty 'Packet's' three were well known for their free steaming, free running qualities, numbers 7, 13, and 23, crews never referred to the locos by their names. Reuben Hendicott's personal favourite being 13. A little too much light has entered my cheap camera as 13 makes it's way to the turntable, having come across from Nine Elms goods terminus.

bike2steam
Not a great fan of Sir Nigel Gresley ( I know some would say sacrilege),but I must include one of his best loco classes, and ,aesthetically, one of mine in it's best livery. For it's small size, very powerful, and sure footed.

chaz
Worcester The soot on the top of No. 9's casing is evidence of the long run from Alton in Hampshire. (It's a shame that most photo's taken of steam runs, and many taken on preserved railways or at events, are blighted by large numbers of people.) Judge Dread
Browsing through my photos I came across this one which attracted me to post it here for three reasons. 1) It was not taken at Eastleigh 100. 2002 as a matter of fact from the "Horse Shoe" bridge just to the south of St. Denys station. 2) It is a framed portrait picture of shed number 531. 3) The most important reason was that the train consists of products of Ford's plant at Southampton, which my man in the south informs me is closing this week, bringing to an end vehicle production by that company in this country. Shame doesn't seem to cover it!

James
JCL, on 22 Jul 2013 - 06:03, said: One of my favourite photos - lovely atmosphere. Thank you It was taken when I worked for VolkerRail who had the contract to maintain the railway at Scunthorpe Steelworks. This particular day was the funeral of one of the Senior Foreman, Charlie. I didn't know him - though with the way all the lads talked about him (they were not only very fond of him but held him in very high regard) I felt like I did - so I didn't go. That day we had a skeleton staff of four. The other three, who had known him for many years, attended the service only and we finished very early that day too. So while the service took place I was left to my own devices with a foreman's phone in case of incident. I took a number of photos that morning - the tamper in question has since been repainted from grantRail to VolkerRail colours and now carries the name 'Charlie'.
