I'm new to this thread and I must say there's some impressive 'portrait' photos that will take some living up to. Does this ED qualify:

Yes, and the subsequent shot are just the ticket: got more?

Thanks, Grahame, they're smashing photos. Erm, what's the diesel electric?

The middle one is a BR(S) class 33/1 and the bottom one is an Australian shunter/switcher. Here's some more Aussie loco portraits (but don't ask what they are :scratchhead: ):

Is the metro Vic a runner? There is some footage on YouTube of one of these but never found any of one flat out which would be good to get an idea of what a CO-BO sounds like

Going nowhere is Steamtown Scranton's 'stuffed and mounted' 4-8-8-4 'Big Boy' sitting outside the railway museum on the morning of the 22 October 2017. Still impressive despite it's poor external condition, the presence of asbestos means that no work can be undertaken on it (even painting) until decontaminated.

It's quite a long time since I posted a snap in this topic but...

Walking over the bridge by Eastleigh railway station this afternoon I was surprised to see a couple of locomotives of a type I don't recall ever having seen here before.

post-9071-0-59042200-1522699711.jpg

Class 20s, or as I originally knew them, in green with no yellow, - English Electric type 1.

post-9071-0-64934700-1522699830.jpg

I have never liked the blue and yellow but these two do look very smart in what is obviously a brand-new coat of paint.

post-9071-0-07653700-1522699859.jpg

Maybe someone knows if these two are at Eastleigh for their new paint, a complete overhaul or......?

A wintry afternoon in the early 1980s: A not so bonny pair of twenties, whistling through Wadsley Bridge on their way up the Don Valley towards the steelworks at Stocksbridge.

Scanned from a transparency.
