It's constructed from 1mm grey card, Scalescenes brick papers and Evergreen sytrene sheet and other shapes. Built using 20thou plastic sheet for the main 'frame' of the girders, with 1.5mm angle section for the lattice. Abutments and wing walls uses Wills rough stone wall sheets. Stuart Birks Posted December 31, 2019 Share Posted December 31, 2019 Here are a few lineside buildings I have made for Acorn Wood The first is a cattle dock based on the diagram in "A Pictorial Record of Great Western Archtecture" Next is a plate layers hut based on the diagram of Watlington hut in "Great Western Branch Line Termini" And finally a coal stage also from Watlington based on a photo. This photo shows it with the ground at approximatly the right level. I always make buildings with walls/legs longer so that they get set into the ground. I was not happy with the coal which is ballast painted black so I removed it and replaced it with real coal. This shows the long legs. Ignore the roof, it's only temporary while I build the platform canopy. It also needs the capping stones at the top of the end walls after the canopy has been added: Hopefully, anyone who's been to the preserved section of the GCR, partcularly at Quorn or Rothley stations will recognise this building, but just in case you don't here's a link to a picture of the real thing circa 1951. Two extremes....Charles House.....very much reduced in size.......but still a huge building in N gauge and at the other extreme The Radnor Arms only 2 ins x 3 ins footprint. The pub is nearly finished, just some roof details and another coat of paint on the back walls then weathering. Charles House......long way to go yet....
