There are loads to choose from, and I wouldn't know where to start, so here's a few to get you thinking.

Hope this helps, it all depends on which type of crane you want and how much you want to pay for it.

Maybe fellow RMwebers could help you more than I can.

The Dapol crane mounted on a brick base instead of the dock gantry it comes with looks great! Knightwing produce an exceptable small gantry but the ratio gantry crane kit is the ducks nuts bit spendy though so check ebay. (I picked one up on eBay US for $9 last year).

Have enjoyed your layout thread  and will be watching this topic.

Looking good Will.

It's great to see you've made such a great start on your layout.I quite envy you doing all this for the first time, nothing beats the satisfaction of achieving something you've only dreamed of previously and turning it into reality.I still have fond memories of the first "Real" layout I built in 009 in 1974, and can still remember the thrill of it all.Brilliant stuff keep it up.

Just watched your video Will.Very impressive filming and commentary loved it.I hope you don't mind if I make a few comments:

There's one point in the video when you're  showing the new static grass with the  van in the background and the effect is most realistic. When you've got the rest of the layout finished to this standard you'll have a very good layout.

You said the painting on your figure was a bit rubbish,I tell you what it looked pretty good to me.

The thing I found most impressive was your scratch built coal cells. As you say it's cheaper to scratch build than use kits, but more importantly when done skillfully, as you have done, the result is more realistic. The sleepers look great and your coal looks really good.

Fantastic stuff Will.

It has been confirmed that 'A Small Yard' will be attending the Weston-on-Trent exhibition on Saturday the 16th November. This will most likely be it's last exhibition in the Midlands before I move unless I get a very late invite. So, if you're interested in seeing te layout in the flesh come along! Details here.

Thanks Ian, I've been trying to get the filming right, but it's very difficult whilst trying to speak, film and think at the same time! :)

The static grass really does look good, I'm hoping to use a grass mat for the hill and then go over it with the static grass as I'm running out of the stuff! I'm not a fan of the colour for the face so I'll have a go at looking through my paints for some more or looking online for some. The coal staites i'm quite pleased with and I'm glad you liked them, like you said it's much cheaper. They practically cost me nothing to build as the sleepers are from old track and the coal I has anyway. :)
