Class 56s,new and old photos...

Nice picture 96701,

I copped this one myself last Sunday having seen it the day before. I was surprised to see it still wearing the remains of Fertis livery as repaints happen quite quickly these days.

Cheers

Here is 56081 UKRL on hire to Freightliner with 6K56 Carnforth D&G to Crewe Basford Hall Yard with a loaded ballast train today 24-02-2015, It left earlier in the morning with a similar load and returned with 16 loaded wagons of spent ballast and old sleepers. I'm guessing they did this to give the 56 a real good work out after the loco had been sat for a time in basford yard and it needed a good shakedown to get rid of any build-up in the system. I'm guessing that it had 800 plus tonnes behind it

On the 12th September 2013 I was working in Horton In Ribblesdale but my job got cancelled until the next day so i decided to have a drive up to Ribblehead to see the viaduct for the first time, unaware that Colas Rail 56302 was in the sidings being loaded at the time.  So I parked up and had a walk onto the station to take a few photos.

The next day i caught the same train as it headed down the Settle/Carlisle line with a loaded train of logs at Horton In Ribblesdale station.
