RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted November 3, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 3, 2019 Another happy school memory - there weren't that many! I read somewhere there was a crew change or something similar at Chichester, which required the loco to stop at the platform. The train was long, and blocked at least two of the level crossings. More than once it wouldn't restart...chaos ensueing.

RMweb Premium ba14eagle Posted November 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) A few scans from my 35mm & 110 instamatic photos from the 1980's. First up, a grabbed shot of 56007, running through Trowbridge, light engine towards Westbury. This was a weeknight visit - depending on the date, I was probably waiting to see what class 50 was on the Westbury - Malago Vale ecs or the Paddington to Westbury, diverted to Trowbridge due to the Westbury resignalling works. 56032, 56043 and an unidentified class member, Westbury Depot. One of my many Sunday afternoon visits, sadly, undated. 56039 approaches Trowbridge with an additional Westbury to Bristol train, run by BR icw the Merehead open day, 25th June 1989. 56031 i believe, pauses at Trowbridge, to drop off traincrew, with an oil train - possibly from the London area? undated 56039 again, at Westbury, 25th June 1989. RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2019 I don’t know which way 56031 is going in that picture at Trowbridge but it’s most likely the train is to/from Theale. At that time the Theale train was often a class 56.

Allegheny1600
Thanks, Arran! That was the only 56 I ever managed to get a cab ride in, at the Midland Railway Centre one day on a club outing. I have a 'snap' of that occasion somewhere. Meanwhile, at Derby station one day in about 1985; I just can't quite make out the number, sorry (but it is a Romanian one). smithlington smithe
And what’s this emerging from the gloom... ahh a class 56 I know the pictures are bad but it’s just nice to see a 56 on the Lindsey oil refinery to Ribble Rail Preston docks for a change, especially a single 56,specifically 56087 at Hapton and sounding great too cheers David Edited November 28, 2019 by smithlington smithe

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted December 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 16, 2019 Leaning into the curve approaching Sowerby Bridge, Colas 56087 leads 56094 with 6E32, 10.07 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery on 16th December 2019. Without wanting to set any 'hares running', it's been reported on another forum that the contract for this traffic is currently out to tender. Colas has held the contract since January 2015 - originally employing its then newly acquired fleet of class 60s - but clearly if the contract changes hands during the early months of 2020 then the use of class 56s on 6M32/6E32 will almost certainly come to an end.
