Class 56s,new and old photos...

Recommended Posts

One from last night that I've stuck on Flickr.

56302 6C47 Westbury

56302 'PECO The Railway Modeller 2016 70 Years' sits in Westbury Down Yard waiting time with 6C47 Westbury - Westbury via Taunton and Bristol. In the distance on the Down Reception is 7V12 the Woking Empties, which should have gone in front but was waiting a relief driver.

Got a good bit of scream off the 56 as it passed me leaving the yard, I know some scream more than others. Such a distinctive sound, combined with the bassy thump.

Another one, this time from the previous night.

56302 6C46 Westbury

56302 'PECO The Railway Modeller 2016 70 Years' sits in Westbury Up Yard shortly before departure with 6C46 Westbury - Westbury via Taunton and Bristol. 59003 is alongside, unusually stabled in the Up Yard overnight due to shenanigans at the station with an unruly passenger preventing any moves out the north end to get the loco back to the Down side. Once the police had the culprit, trains started running again and the 56 got away right time.

Hmm, 1980s coal loco hauling a 2020s South-of-the-Thames 3rd-rail EMU and a 1960s Western region "namer" from the northwest to Notts, with the odd 1950s-design coach thrown in for good measure... [smiley face rubbing eyes in wonder]

Maybe I should have put it in the "Prototypes for Everything" thread....

This was the first occasion for several months (probably since the RHTT season last year) that 56s have worked 6M32/6E32.  Nice to have a change from a Colas 70.
