What a great picture..... Spent a considerable time of my youth here, sadly all gone now apart from two roads .... Diesel & Electric heaven.

Probably about 18 months earlier and the sidings would have been full of Class 76's..... Oh what you would give for a time machine.

Jim

Yeah, when I was trying to find some pictures of Guide Bridge for my derelict stations thread I came across this picture and some others that showed the stabling sidings full of 76/40/25s etc. The annoying thing is that I never visited it when I was a kid as I always thought that it was just wagon sidings.

I use to flit in between here, Reddish & Wath on the old Class 506's..... just to catch glimpse's of the Class 25's, 37's, 40's, 47's, 76's and the odd 56 it was a train photographer heaven. Once I had enough I would travel over to Manchester Victoria and spend a few hours there. Absolutely loved it.

Here we have a few pictures at Guide Bridge. 40091 & 25178

It looks like he's hit a wonderwall.

And when did BR start transporting barf in tankers? Was it transported from Newcastle after Friday nights?

Only very recently by the look of it - luckily there were some barrier wagons that used to be tanks, spare after moving LT underground stock to and from Derby, and they could be repurposed just by rubbing out some of the lettering.

More to the point, where it is going in GWR-land? Perhaps to Barford near Leamington: https://goo.gl/maps/6GBbnrHZuMn27qCy5

Perhaps they used it to back fill all of those closed coal mines?

I don't know why, but it seems a bit odd to see a headcode disc 20 without the discs themselves

20 082 + 20 072 at Warrington Bank Quay.

12 August 2020.

2027 brings up the rear - DIT on Skipton-Appleby 1Z41 "Staycation Express". (47712 is on the front)

It had worked the ECS south earlier substituting for a failed 47593.

It *should* return in charge of 1Z42 Appleby-Skipton later..................

From 1981 I think (possibly 1980 or 82), and relatively unusual that far south on the MML, a pair at Kettering, the second with headcode blinds still in place. Can't quite read the number (of the 2nd one) off the scan.
