RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted October 25, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 25, 2013 As my previous comment saying I was worried about my Dapol Western I have phoned L&B last Monday and I was told that my Loco would be with me by Friday and guess what it's still not here so it looks like I may be having a daytrip to the shop and see what's going on as this is the same excuse I've been given twice now. I know I may seem a bit over reactive but when the loco cost £149 plus the £89 for the sound decoder I think I may have a right to be getting cautious now. RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted October 25, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2013 A mate of mine is having 'delay' problems. Maybe they have just been very, very busy. However it is better to not overstretch yourself in business as it can end in tears. P

I've always had excellent service from them and they've always answered the phone very promptly but an email response from them is an altogether different matter! They are also at Warley in a few weeks so a visit to them might be in order if it's not too far away.
RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted October 25, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 25, 2013 I rang them on Monday and they said I would have my loco by today and not a phonecall to say it's delayed again !!
RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted November 3, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 3, 2013 I'm really starting to get annoyed with this firm now I phoned them again last Tuesday 29/10/2013 and I was assured that my loco would be with me by Friday 1/11/2013 as one of the owners was working from home on Tuesday and he had took my loco to change the screws and fit the sound decoder and I'm still waiting for it it's the lack of communication on there part that's really worrying me now I think I'll be making a suprise visit to see what's going on !! Linners
It's a real shame to hear that you are having problems, Lord and Butler are my local retailer, well about 20 miles up the roaad from where I live. I have bought from them since they opened in the Pumping Station and have always found them to be very customer focussed. I have never resorted to mail order from them, but in all my interactions with them I have never had cause to complain. I have no other connection to Lord and Butler, and I do hope that your situation is resolved quickly. Linners
RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted November 9, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2013 Thank you for your encouraging words I've recieved an email from the new email address giving me a full apology and the reason why it's taking so long apparently the loco is now with there DCC decoder fitting specialist as it has to be hardwired ? (As far as i know only two wires have to be soldered on for the bass reflex speaker) I'll give it until just before the warley show and see what's happening then take it from there !! Danemouth
Thanks Dave that's much appreciated. Regards Visited the shop today - Peter expects the new website to be online sometime this quarter and I understand that it will be linked to the stock system. He had the new Sentinels in stock - it is a nice runner on DC - not for me though as it doesn't fit a seaside town. Dave

Brian R They were in the display cabinet just as you come in - they were there when I was in the shop yesterday (Sunday) afternoon around 4pm'ish: a red one and a blue one. naturol
Well, I went there today with liz, and peter whipped it out in front of her and let me have a little fiddle while she looked on, she won't run her hands over it though, when peter said " that's fantastic " she could,nt contain herself any longer and burst out in hysterical fits of laughter, a bit off putting for me and peter, As he was doing his best to flog it in front of me and two other punters. She doesn't get the train thing poor lass. Well I for one will be having one, with the view to putting it on castle works, which as if by magic, peter has asked for it to go on display at the shop for a few weeks whilst Adrian builds a shop layout. And yes Bruv, it is a fantastic little gem.

This is the beauty of supporting your local shop. You get a far more personal service and in this case, Peter has provided just that. I to have experienced the hands on approach. Just before Christmas I took the other half down. She had a quiet word with Peter, was whisked of to a quiet corner and she came back all smiles. She was clutching something that she refused to show me. I later had a little something in my stocking. Well done and Carry on Lord and Butler....
