That's such a shame, isn't it? - because all good RMWebbers will be at the Members Day in Taunton!  ;)  :D

Nice one, Craig, but I'm duty-bound to point out that both trains will also be passing Taunton later on that afternoon!  ;)  :D

We're giving up the Sat night to Mon morning blockade between Newton Abbot and Dawlish Warren for an hour or so on the Sunday afternoon, to ensure that the VSOE and GB7 can pass through.

Not those who can't get there :D

That's a pity, Will - is there no cheap fare that you can get at this stage?

So much for the prospects of a County awash with loco hauled trains!

The weather was appalling really, and curtailed much of my expeditions out on Fri / Sat. I did venture out though - and got one sunny shot today. The others were pretty drab I'm afraid.

Here they are:

Fri 25th the VSOE from Victoria to Truro nears its journeys end at Dowgas with locos 67024 leading 67006

post-2613-0-95592400-1398623031_thumb.jpeg

To demonstrate the cruel lighting changes, the local 2C48 passed by just 20 mins earlier in cracking sunshine!

post-2613-0-48940300-1398623048_thumb.jpeg

Sun 27th the Great Britain IV tour ran from Falmouth as 10.03 and passed Dowgas in fine fettle. It just caught a cloud sadly, but the picture isnt too bad. 5029 leads 34067. The Western loco in front!

post-2613-0-21986300-1398623065_thumb.jpeg

The VSOE was captured in fine light at Merthen Farm some time later with the 12.20 Truro to Victoria return.

I will just say that Craig and a number of his colleagues have really pushed the boat out with this one, in order to deal with the quite large number of points that need clipping up and other special working arrangements, to allow this charter to run according to the itinerary requested by the BLS.

If any of our erstwhile  photographers could get some pictures of The Royal Duchy at Friary, it would be most appreciated.  To see such a passenger train there again would be really something, even at the current buffer stops.

Brian.

Maybe it could traverse the Cattedown branch while its  there! :O

Don't count on it going to Friary, and in any case, we'd only run it just as far as necessary past the wash plant at Mount Gould Jct, to run the passenger stock round. We would certainly not have entertained the notion of it going all the way to the buffer stops, because of the number of hand points that would need clipping, which in turn would require additional staffing at additional cost, an extra level of complexity that isn't required.
