relaxinghobby
Trying to make one of theose little 2-4-0t of the Kent and East Sussex Railwya from an old Triang/Hornby Nelly/Polly or in this case a green Percy. It is the right width for the protoype, but too tall and too long in the bunker. So with reference to the plans I've marked out lines to cut along so I can cut away unwanted plastic. So as to make a sort of kit of parts. I'll do away with the boiler completely, there is a piece of shaped black plasticard for the front foot plate. Cabs still too big. relaxinghobby
The last picture may have been a bit alarming for some viewers but it was a necessary stage to get to this stage. A sort of bitsa has emerge in the shape of the little Kent and East Sussex Railway tank engine. It's an improvement as a much more scale model has been made from the sacrifice of a very unscale model. A bit of a Frankenstien's monster here, a new body made up of an old dismembered one which I think means you first have to break the model down into it's component shapes before you can put them back together in a new way. The self contained motive power unit is a self motor bogey from a small Bachmann USA type Bo-Bo diesel, you get 2 of these from each one. The wheels are from their Puffing Billy early American loco. Work to do; a front pony truck, cylinders, con rods, smoke box to be built up and boiler fittings and other details.
