Can you not make the bridges interchangeable David? The new 3D printed one is very smart (you should make friends with that surveyor) but I prefer the deceased 30's SR concrete beasty. After all you'll be getting a green 71 soon and the Night Ferry's gonna look better going under the old bridge. Reminds me; next time I'm down I have to bring the full Golden Arrow set of '51 Pullmans.

Ah, Jukebox, the answer to your Q, about the beach stairs, being built offset,at one place.

I believe it is to offer a passing place, for up down traffic.

I do like the low level shots DT ...

Thanks A.  Sorry I have missed your phone call's.

Just had good catch up here David...

great work as always from you :sungum:

Thank s Neil, it has been awhile though.

Bigamy?

No, No, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers !

An ipad error, making ts own judgement, again.

Just found this thread. Brilliant model. I built something similar in N a while back and I'll be rebuilding soon. The reference photos on here alone are gold!

Thank you, being going awhile, but ran out of steam.

Well, my Class 71 was delivered today.

Thank you for everyone's effort's over the time period, from inception,

Especially to DJ, for his decision to go with it.

Bare Bones, Just placed on the track, not run in, no power on,no head code fitted etc. etc.

My lighting is very bright,so I can actually see, when I sometimes work,on the layout.

Here are some photo's.

Detail is really crisp and I really like the metal handrails    ..............       almost worth thinking about an electric overhead     ..............    Nnnnoooooo!!!!!

I'm not sure which looks best, they are both very very good indeed.

Regards

Though taking to the rails long after OVSB departed testily to CIE then retirement in Malta, those striking green and yaller 71s have always looked Bulleidian to me.

2

I do like the 2 bridges. It makes me think you could photograph 2 'epochs' along here: contemporary and (revealed by flick away a suitably textured soft fabric 'throw') the underlying elaborate 1960s yard.

Edit

Ha! I see the green (pre-rail blue) livery model doesn't include the yellow panel; I'm sure I can remember a small below waist level yellow panel

Hi dt,

I have just read some comments about the 71s [elsewhere  ...   ahem  ...]  There were some comments about the power available from the cordless motor/gearbox combination on the model and the weight to deliver the effect to the track.  It should be said that it didn't seem like first hand experience which was being delivered, which caused some doubts in the voracity of the comments.  have you tried your 71s for pulling capability and speed  yet?
