David,

I discovered this excellent thread about 6 weeks ago quite by chance and have just managed to read through all 200+ pages during night time awake sessions with my 20 week old nocturnal son. Not only is the attention to detail fantastic, I really like your method of trial and error comparison to the real thing to get it to look as close as it does. It really is hard to tell the difference with the real thing.

Thank you very much for the inspiration, I'm looking forward to the next 200. I might not need an electrostar, but that cam truck might go on the shopping list.

This is AndyF's work,    Thanks, he will appreciate that.

Thanks for the kind comments Rich.

You will not believe, how quickly time passes, he will soon be 20.years.

I place stuff, not glued and leave it for weeks, then, remove it,if it's not fitting in right.

i never have trial and error problems with Freebs' items.

The Electrostar is looking fantastic! I might need one of these!

Dave,

Signals are looking very good.

You must see the latest Model Rail with a feature on building Shakespeare Cliff, not a patch on your effort.

Cheers.

:O     ?? They have not asked for copyright.

Dave,

Yes it is the Feb issue 218 mag.

Cheers.

Printed version, is out this Thursday.

Has anyone ever asked which is 'up' and which is 'down' on those two sections of layout - does it change somewhere around the 10 chain curve?

dh

I posted this info, awhile back, will get the diagram out again, physically, the south toes,of the scissor crossing.

David I see you let Mr Portillo use your layout for opening shots in tonights programme ?

Another re run ? Must collect my royalties

Realy like all the detail on those colour aspects :paint:

Yes, Matt @ Absolute Aspects, does make a good job, all from my photographs.

Hi David, the backscene is looking very good, the perspective and transition from ground level up to the bridge, and then up to the castle are  excellent.  I saw Mr Portillo striding around your layout last night on T.V, or was it the real Dover Priory I couldn't tell the difference. All the best Adrian.

Ah, Glad you posted dh,  (runsasrequired).

Bin playing b/scenes,again, send me or John, the file of this please.

Wilco

Erm....

But that castle bit is a HUGE folder. Will try to exhume the ones that were marginally less cr@p.

Thanks for the reply about the change being S end of the Scissors. So that means the old LC&D Harbour station is now 'wrang way roond' ! Strange things real railways.

Neither is that tall building on Townwall street,on the way to the Eastern Docks, its reduced to one level now,

unused since 1986,it blighted the Dover Skyline.

There used to be an odd division of territory between the ASM based at Ashford and Dover Western Dock.

The one at Ashford covered from Ashford to Dover, stopping at Harbour Tunnel; his patch continued from the Kearnsey curve as far as Richborough. This was the former SER line. The one at Dover covered the former LC&DR line towards Faversham. This legacy of the 19th century persisted at least into the mid-1980s; my old gaffer, Tony Clevett, had been the Ashford ASM, whilst Simon French had been the Dover one.
