I'll post some pictures of progress with the Bricklayers Arms / The Kensington later..........now then do I finish the building in cream as it was before it was knocked down....or the rather awful colour scheme as it appeared in Minder???

I’ve completed cutting out the windows and doors from the two street side walls of The Bricklayers Arms. The two rear walls have only a couple of windows between them. The two walls are temporarily attached.

If you went with the bottom one you'd also have to include the road marking spelling mistake and no-one would believe you. Everyone would think it was your mistake.

It looks like a Google Streetview image stitching problem rather than a spelling mistake. You sometimes get very odd shaped cars, etc in Streetview.

I’ve also managed today, prior to giving blood.....41 pints now..... to get the next blocks of town houses started. Both these are Kingsway kits. One has been shortened from 4 houses to 2 with one end wall at an angle to match the Addison Gardens bridge. The other has also been shortened and two houses recoloured by scanning the wall then filling it with a different colour.

I haven't given blood since I left the UK. Over here they won't take it because they think that everyone who lived in the UK in the 1990s has Mad Cow Disease.

A miserable day weather wise here, so with floodlights blazing I got on with the town houses. One block complete except trimmings. The second block just needs the porches adding. The third block is going to gain ground floor shops. I wanted to make it a brick frontage rather than rendered but don’t know how to add the texture to a scanned picture so it’s the long way round. Cut out the windows and add brick paper. I’ve also resized the Scalescenes shop fronts I have to add at ground floor level. They need a little adjustment width wise as they are about 8mm to short......Something to do this evening.

I’ve resized the shop fronts and have cut all the windows and added the brick paper to the upper floors. All the windows cut out. This will be glued over the original front. The new shop fronts were to have been built out at ground level, but a quick check on Streetview shows that they are more or less flush with the upper floors. Last picture has the too narrow shop fronts still.

Shop fronts cut out and attached plus facia boards added. I’ve since made a start on adding window sills and some relief to the building.

Nearly finished the shops, just some rudimentary interiors to fit and we’re done.

Whose chimney pots are you using? Several look like GC2 terminals (usually indicating a BBU in the fireplace).

They are a 3D print from Shapeways...you get 50 I think as a pack.....I’ll try and find the maker.

The street signs are homemade size 1 for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and 4 or 3 for the street name. Still oversized but at least legible. Printed on to photo paper then spray varnished to seal them.

I managed to fit some windows to The Bricklayers Arms, the window apertures were cut to largely fit some Scalescenes printed windows that I’d order months ago. I’ll try and get the other walls cut for this tomorrow and make the chimneys etc.

The rest of the walls for The Bricklayers Arms we’re completed today. They’ve had a base coat of paint and the windows have been added. I found a better photo of one of the walls that showed the chimney stacks were built up flush from the wall.......mine won’t be!

 

The blank walls will butt up to the adjacent buildings...when I build them.

I got on quite well today and got all the walls attached, chimneys built along with the roof access. I have produced the signage for The Bricklayers Arms but I won’t attach it until I weather the brickwork. Chimney pots to add along with the troughs for the drain pipes which I forgot to add.
