What a superb model and subject. I don't think I've ever seen a model of the Connel Bridge before, I look forward to watching it progress.

Hi JIM

Yes I Agree, Peter as had an invite to be at Bonnybridge this time next year as you may see it in it full completed model form, so something to look forward to.

Hi all

Well after a very hectic four weeks things are now getting back to normal. Both Glen Gillie and Great Tunsley dale have been put back into storage for the time being and some work has been done on the bridge before I start on the fitting of the new kitchen for Wendy who shall be obeyed?.

I still have not come up with a name for the bridge but I feel it will be along the lines of Bridge of Orkey or Bridge of Ore. In the mean time work has progressed on the fitting of the internal bracing and the under deck girders . For this end I have made a small jig to assist in the cutting of these and I have taken a shot to  show the various stages in their construction.

Hi Ray

The rigidity of the whole to date is very good the two brass u section bars which I have placed underneath the deck members has certainly increased the strength. You can see these in some of the photo's.

The cost . Don't go into that. there are 22 packs of truss girders at £6.00 a pack only will tot up what I have used and list it like they do on real bridge projects.

Hi All

The Last of the Bonnybridge and close-up photos of Connel Bridge that Peter is in the middle of working on...

You can see from the photos the two brass u section bars which Peter placed underneath the main deck for increased strength of the structure.

I'm sure Peter will appreciate your views and comments on his excellent modelling and look forward to seeing the Bridge fully completed in the near future as he moves on to his next layout adventure.

Hi Peter

Not logged in for ages... Glad you looked better than I expected you to look when I visited you in 'H', I did notice in your notes it said...

'that YOU would Live, although they didn’t Recommend it...' ha-ha (One of the best lines in Only Fools and Horses) but applicable in this case to... lol

Good that you had the side room with a photo of a Garratt on the wall, was that ordered specially for you, or just to remind Wendy she still got another bill to pay for you... lol

Take it steady and have a great Christmas with Wendy and Family and a Great New Year...

Always keep you Humour....

If there is anybody out there that would be interested in buying this layout I would love to hear from you. It would be such a pity if I had to destroy it after all the work that Peter put into the building of it. Further details, pictures etc see the following link. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/18884-glen-gillie/page__p__182185__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=182185

Any reasonable offer would be considered as would rather it goes to a good home where it can be appeciated.

Please pm me if you are interested

Wendy
