Hello from me!

The pricing of these models will be interesting, given the level of quality control and spares availability being promised by Dave.

I would guess that the Dapol approach of pricing 'up to peoples willingness to pay' will be used.

No doubt the new models will be good but people should beware that the historically low prices seen around 2000-2009-for the quality on offer- are already becoming a memory. In one of the magazines, it was stated that the Hornby ex-GWR classes28xx/38xx were the 'last of their line'  for quality/price. It seems that our hobby will increasingly will become ever more specialised and realistically the models WILL become expensive or basic or both! . Unless 3D printers unlock new economies of course...

I thought I'd priced all the loco's quite competitively :-(

The world has moved on from the prices we paid 10 years ago (even allowing for inflation) - we are now very much in the £100+ for a decent model era.

Good luck to you Dave - The Clayton in N looks very nice and would fit nicely on my late 60s shunting layout..............................but on the WR !! - might have to think about the justification for that

Only just caught up with this news Dave
Where have I been, you may well ask!

Anyhow, just wanted to say good luck in this new venture :)
.... and keep us all posted with developments

Marc

EDIT: Just an additional thought, but with "DCC ready" locos
I'd say, please ensure there's plenty of room inside for speakers
I for one dislike having to carve things about, just to fit a bass-reflex unit
Just a thought.....

I haven't paid much attention to the N and O gauge examples but the price of the 00 J94 struck me as being very realistic especially in relation to the total package which comes with it.  No doubt some who will expect 'major box-shifter' style reductions won't take so kindly but as D1059 has said 'the world has moved on'.

However as far as DJModels are concerned I'm still in wishlist territory (unless I mortgage a few years pension and arrange a commissioned model with you!).

This is very true, everybody wants good working pay & conditions, and we as customers have to,pay for that  & rightly so !!! no point in moaning at Primark exploiting workers in far off lands, and the same goes for us Modellers, if you want quality "hopefully we will get it" we have to pay for it.

Good luck Dave  :good:

I would say this may be a good plan for the 0 and 00 models but in N personally I would prefer the maximum tractive weight being incorporated as a non-DCC User.

Maybe the middle ground would be for a removable section of weight to be designed into the chassis which could be removed to house a speaker? Not sure how practical that would be...

Regards

Roy

For what its worth, I think you have. Given the level of detail, the attention to getting it right that you have shown with Dapol, I have no doubt that these will be cracking models at an excellent price.

I'm sorry to sound flippant, but it you want to pay "Railroad" prices, you will get "Railroad" models (other value ranges are available).

Hi Dave,

Can you post and let us know when the pre-ordering facility will be on your site please?

The 00 J94 will be a BR layout starter for me, but then an 'O' one would be nice too, but that would mean another layout........ Still perhaps Jane won't notice if they both look the same and I hide her specs.......................

Have only just picked up on this new entry to the field sith the Nov 13 Model rail.  Looks interesting.  Typical though that having in the last 6 months sourced a Kato DD13 and duly puchased and "built" the Parkwood resin body, we now have a nice looking RTR Clayton.  Story of my life!!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes I have an idea about 'house colours' but no logo as yet.

The colours don't use a palette that's already out there, and are classic colours when put together.

That's all I'm telling ;-)

Cheers

Dave

well that doesn't leave many colours if you avoid the colour groups already taken...

Red, taken

Green, taken

Yellow & Black, taken

Purlple/Mauve, taken

Blue, taken

Orange, Pink, Brown, White, seem free........

though the last two would make seem like you've not tried, especially if you can get the printing on the boxes to look like spidery biro.

Plain Brown wrapper that's so top-shelf or under the counter I'm not sure which.

My Mrs already calls the monthly Railway Modelling Mags, Train Porn.

Now I have visions of Dave loitering by either the Dapol or Bachmann stands at Warley  doing  a good imitation of Flash Harry/Private Walker/Arthur Dailey.

"'ere mate wana buy a loco, one careful lady owner, never raced or rallied...."

Best of luck with this exciting new venture - more welcome competition in the quality rtr market!

For future projects, some little engines from the old GER spring immediately to mind - Buckjumpers and J15s perhaps?

Of course a new venture with someone as passionate as you Dave at the helm is always great news.

I have no doubt DJM will be successful and look forward to adding my first DJ Models loco to the collection.

Also wanted to say I like the website feel. So many websites are overly complicated...but DJM looks clean, is simple to use and easy to read and navigate.

Keep up the good work!

Kind regards

Martin
