Tempted by 975875 but I'm converting a Bachmann Mk1 myself at the moment.  A couple of useful photos for others, showing both sides and before the windows were boarded up, as per the release above:

Will the translator coaches come with tension lock couplings on one end and Kadees on the other?

One end will have inscriptions in English, the other in Chinese! ;)

Oddly enough, I was looking at a picture of one of the real translator coaches just yesterday and thinking that I could make one myself! How's that for coincidence? :)

Are Invicta still releasing the breakdown coach that modelzone were going to release?

Rich

As far as we know, everything that was in the ModelZone limited exclusives list will now be produced for Invicta as one of the owners of Invicta was the developer of the limited editions for ModelZone.

Nice to hear these are being despatched. I had to phone up the lovely Kerry as the price has had to be upped by a quid to confirm I still wanted mine.

All done and on their way.

These look suspiciously like the Dia 1/051 13t China Clay tooling to me. Oh dear............

Yes it does, and the product code would seem to confirm that - there have been three different 33-079/a/b coded models in Bachmann's main range - all BR grey china clay opens.

And 33-xxx means it's old type tooling as well!

... even down to the roller bearings, which were as rare as hens teeth on diag 1/051!

We need another comments button for "awful" or something similar!

I had forgotten that Invicta had asked for the photos

KDW138238 http://PaulBartlett....raphs/e10552d85
418631 http://PaulBartlett....raphs/e2ee86a8d http://PaulBartlett....raphs/e2676b8c2
KDM417836 http://PaulBartlett....sopen/e3adba7bd

So was surprised to receive the gift of a set in the post this morning. So here are the photos - don't shoot the photographer! They have done an excellent job of the finish, what a shame that the wrong wagon has been used!

  • 1 year later...

Noticed that the S&T 3 wagon set is now reduced from £35 to £23!!!!

I bought a set when they first came out, but wasn't happy with the weathering, it seemed like someone had gone OTT wit the spray gun, and the lettering and different coloured planking was mostly obscured beneath a grey spray finish!!

I eventually resold them on E-Bay......

Anyhoo, seeing as they are now cheaper, I have ordered another set.....................!!!!!

Whilst discounting of limited editions like this is irritating for people like me who paid full price (after having pre-ordered them at a lower price, then was told that Bachmann had upped the price prior to delivery) it can be great if you don't already have them. That said, it's probably indicative that limited editions are a difficult area to pick correctly, and with so many getting discounted now commissioners are at risk of having potential buyers playing a game of Chicken, waiting for the prices to fall before they buy.
