Here is Elijah, my personalised green Ixion Hudswell Clarke locomotive. Minor modificatons include fitting a toolbox on the footplate and extra lamp irons front and rear. Weathering was done with a mixture of air-brushing and MIG powders. The wheels and coupling rods need more attention with grease and oil. I am working on a black version of the Hudswell Clarke. On that loco I am aiming for the impression of a hard-worked engine that has been kept clean.

Does anyone have any industrial diesels to show off on this forum?

There are quite a few industrial diesel models on this part of the forum already if you take a look around. In lieu of anything new from my workbench, here's an oldie; I'd rather not repost things I've already done and described and have no new pictures off. In the meantime, here's my 0-4-0 Sentinel from the Judith Edge kit.

I had the opportunity of weathering a Judith Edge 0-6-0 Sentinel at Leeds Show. Built and painted by Mike Edge he also showed me some good shots of a variety of the real thing. It is a thing of great beauty!

How about one of these in O scale?  An advert from Model Railway News for June 1950.  I can only find one advert so they probably didn't make to many sales even though it looks like a nice model for the time.  Maybe the lack of a price may have put people off.  Perhaps Mike Edge can throw some light on the maker?

Odin has a compensated chassis courtesy of Mike Edge and is a RSH loco.

ABS had the masters, Adrian reworked one of them but had it pinched from his stand - so they have probably gone forever

The NCB does have an Austerity in the area - must be on loan from North West area.

"Revenge" on the tippler shunt as Cwmafon Iron & Steel Company's new Hunslet 67T 403hp 0-6-0DH emerges from one of the steelworks buildings.

This was built from the excellent NB Models kit.

Some more of the colliery locos at the NCB shed, scratchbuilt Hunslet 16" 0-6-0ST, a Ruston 165DE from an MTK kit and just visible behind a Barclay 0-4-0ST displaced from the steelworks by the new Hunslet diesels.

These are only some of the industrial loco fleet available on Cwmafon, many scratchbuilt although the most recent Hunslet diesels are Judith Edge kits. The colliery has the usual modeller's fleet of all different locos but the steelworks is now almost 100% Hunslet - the only others remaining are the Garratt kept as a pet and an anglicised US diesel which doesn't see much use. There will be another HE Bo-Bo when we get round to the kit and at least one 75T 0-6-0DE when the kit prototype is finished. I'll post some more if they are of interest.

Yes, please.

A very impressive line up Michael, I built a couple of those NB Models Austerities a while back, I'll dig them out, they were a nicely cast kit. What was the MTK Ruston like to build?

What the steelworks fleet needs to perfect it, is one of those Parkgate Iron & Steel, outside framed, Brush 0-4-0DEs..........

Just sayin' .........:-)

Brush 0-4-0DE is in our list of locos to do, might be on the drawing board soon. CISC is going to be an all Hunslet fleet so no room there, and no room for the Janus we have just waiting to be painted so that might be another NCB loco.

The MTK Ruston wasn't too bad, although a bit basic. It's a long time since thats been on sale though and I don't think I've ever seen another one.

Another loco displaced by the Hunslets is this YE 0-4-0ST, seen here on slag ladle duty.

The ex CISC Barclay now shunting Coed Cae colliery -no prizes for guessing who it is named after.

Another view of the Austerity on the tippler shunt, some of the coal from the pit is delivered here by NCB locos.

The NCB also have this Vanguard 6w, normally used on the empties at the top end of the pit since it runs slowly and smoothly for positioning the wagons under the screens. It's a semi-freelance version of TH 180v with an enlarged engine casing to take the Mehano mechanism.

Time for a CWMAFON layout thread on here Mike... and can you make sure pete is aware of this ban(!)

Absolutely; yes please, Mike!................I`d really look forward to seeing Cwmafon in detail; it`d surely give great lift and encouragement to many 'industrialists' (like me).
