The viaducts (from Eccles Pike, a few weeks ago  - at some point I'll check to see what's running to get a train in the picture).post-22093-0-52861600-1436040613_thumb.jpg

I had an afternoon at St Jodok on the Brenner pass in Austria recently, where the line makes a wide loop up a side valley to gain height. You could spend all day there and still not run out of vantage points, but I was dodging the rain, so didn't get too far from shelter.

From the station across the village to the other side of the curve, a Munich-Innsbruck-Italy EC service:

One of the many Rollende Landstrasse (RoLa - see http://www.rola.at/),which had a loco each end, one passenger coach for the truck drivers and a string of flats for the trucks avoiding the slow crawl over the Brenner motorway:

An Italy-Innsbruck-Munich EC service:

And I'd done my homework, so I was expecting the Orient Express - look at those approaching clouds though, time to run back to the station:

There's an hourly local service, the ECs run every two hours roughly I think, and plenty of freight (RoLa, containers and others) in between.

Another of Tilbury Riverside looking away from the terminus - I was right at the end of the platform - showing a very modellable three way assymetric point. I hope this is the right place to post this,

And just to prove that I don't only take long-distance pictures of steam in Wales . . .

One of the Manx Electric's Winter Saloons and trailer cars southbound near Dreemskerry.

Edited to add that from a modelling point of view I like the difference in the shades of green between the field beyond the line being grazed by sheep and the fields in front of the line lying fallow.

Looking north, the train is between Platt Bridge junction and Bickerhaw junction heading for Manchester on the long gone LNWR line from Wigan.

The lines at the bottom are from Bickershaw junction to Low Hall colliery localy known as Moss Hall colliery in Platt Bridge.

Further to the above Jim, the top picture was taken approx behind the trees on the far left hand side in this picture, taken in 1986 when it was a single line to Bickershaw colliery only. I'm heading towards Platt Bridge and Springs Branch with MGR's from Bickershaw for Fiddlers Ferry.
