DelticChris
Hi all a few months ago I found a 00 gauge class 55 lima In the local model shop after paying 40 pound for it got it home and found that it's a lima collectores club model with certificate limited edition what I'm wondering is how hard are these to find and did I pay the right price. She runs well and is quiet with ok detail for an old lima model so I'm not to worried just want to know what is worth thanks o and any information on the royal highland fusiliers running routs would be great thanks again
cary hill
The suggested values of the Lima versions of 'Royal Highland Fusilier' listed in my copy of "Ramsey's British Model Trains" are as follows: L204743 D9019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' in 2-tone green. Special Edition of 550 models for MR&ME - suggested values - £40 excellent unboxed condition £55 mint boxed condition L205230 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' in BR blue. Special Edition for Deltic Preservation Society - suggested values - £30 excellent unboxed condition £40 mint boxed condition. The above values are only a guide, and I think some Lima valuations are a little optimistic, but the "right" Lima Limited Editions do sometimes seem hold their "value". The main route that "Royal Highland Fusilier" would have been on was the East Coast Main Line from King's Cross to Edinburgh from circa 1962 to 1978 when the "Deltic" Class was displaced by HSTs on this route. Other work that they did after relegation from top class duties included Trans-Pennine services from Edinburgh/Newcastle/York to Liverpool Lime Street, but this only last about 3 years, as the Deltic Class was withdrawn by the end of 1981. No doubt someone else with more specialist knowledge of Deltics could expand on this
dandg
Add Doncaster to Leeds and Bradford to the routes listed above and also Edinburgh to Dundee and Aberdeen, Doncaster to Hull, York to Scarborough and Newark to Cleethorpes for 1979 to 1981. They also made occasional visits to Skegness during this period, leaving the main line at Grantham. In addition when diversions were required because of engineering they could be found at places such as Cambridge, Ely, March, Spalding, Sleaford, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Knottingley, Church Fenton, Eaglescliffe, Sunderland, Hexham, Carlisle and Carstairs. In the 1960s they also used the Waverley route through Hawick and travelled from Leeds to Northallerton via Ripon.
RMweb Premium Flying Pig Posted October 13, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 13, 2013 The main route that "Royal Highland Fusilier" would have been on was the East Coast Main Line from King's Cross to Edinburgh from circa 1962 to 1978 when the "Deltic" Class was displaced by HSTs on this route. HSTs did not replace Deltics immediately on all trains and they continued to work the ECML up to final withdrawal.
