Adamphillip
so it's been a while, and I haven't really done much to the layout as due to the current world situation, I've been unable to get to the club to work on things in a decent environment. Current job that need completing are, new higher capacity fiddle yard, install new alignment dowels, relay track on baseboard joints and rebuild the station platforms. Also latest additions to the layout is a Caledonian class 92, some IPA car haulers and a regional length eurostar.
Adamphillip
Ok major rebuild time, I'm doubling the size of the fiddle-yard and moving the backscene further back to fit a village into the scenic side of the layout, so here's the new plan. Adamphillip
ok so, phase 1 of the rebuild is now complete, the scenic side is all aligned and not longer causing trains to derail, next job is building the 2 fiddle yard boards and rewiring the controls, but for now here's a photo of Oakwood lane out in the sun
Adamphillip
So I’m slowly working some more on the layout, got some new acquisitions over Christmas and a couple of months back I did some major repairs to the platforms as you can see from the photos, next job is to work on the new fiddle yard and get the entire layout setup so I can get it all lined up and working together smoothly.
Adamphillip
Contemplating how to weather all the ballast to make it a cohesive whole, currently there are 2 different tones of ballast, I plan to add OHLE portals and masts, cable trunking, relays and signals. Adamphillip
well a quick update today, me and my girlfriend went to the club last night and finished all the new layout legs, we're using the same method as Mr.Waterman for the making tracks layout, next job is to level off the 2 new fiddle yard boards and then get the layout completely setup and the fiddle yard built... also got a couple of new locos and wagons for the layout

Adamphillip
I’ve been thinking… yes as dangerous as that is… that maybe at the end of the year I’ll retire the layout, either putting it in long term storage or dismantling it and then building a new n gauge layout based on Peterborough station in the modern day, or something else with more operational interest. Adamphillip
Slowly been adding Hunt couplings to all my stock, in N they make much more sense, especially with how often they decouple with the old Rapido couplings (think that’s what they’re called) and added a class 321 to the collection, now just waiting for my class 800 to be returned from repair.
Adamphillip
Bad news, the workshop where I was working on the layout has suddenly been repossessed, so I can't use the equipment I'd been planning to use to build the lighting rig, now I need to rethink what I'm doing.
