Class 47 photos

Certainly not the best of pictures but 47854 was on a charter at Crewe early on Saturday evening, sadly the light was fading and even with trying to play with ISO settings I couldn't really get what I wanted. But at the end of the day it was nice to see a loco and coaches  :sungum:

Unfortunately I think this one toasted itself today on a Holyhead to Windsor charter at Northampton. Lots of delays and cancelations to Virgin and LM and was showing as the 5Z66 running SB at Milton Keynes 260+ late.

Report @ http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/breaking-hundreds-of-passengers-stuck-on-train-following-fire-near-northampton-station-1-7944012

Doesn't look as bad as 47500, so may make a return.

Dave

That second photograph looks interesting. Looks like it is dragging a damaged class 50, which I suspect is 50044. I seem to recall 'Exeter' getting a smack in the face at Malago Vale carriage sidings in the early 80s.

Actually, I think that's right. It's heading for Doncaster past Beighton and my notes have 50044 as being seen, but not in consist...... think I must have just omitted to record as such.

Always good to see a 47 out on the network these days.

47830 'Beeching's Legacy' approaches Brighouse on 26th June 2017 with 0K47, 08.44 Crewe Basford Hall to Lostock Junction.  From the number of people occupying the cab I presume this is a driver/route training run.

This working and the associated return 0K48, 13.02 Lostock Junction to Crewe Basford Hall, are in the schedule for 26-30th June, although the usual caveats apply

During the Queen's Jubilee year, 1977, British Rail arranged for the 08.00 Kings Cross to Edinburgh service to carry the name 'The Silver Jubilee', the first run being on 8 June 1977.
Not to be outdone, Stratford depot spruced up 47164 for the 08.30 to Norwich service on the same day, seen here at Liverpool Street before departure.

Genuinely shocked at how overgrown the line side is looking down from Slutchers Lane Bridge.

Didn't there used to be a signal there?  I'm sure there was.
