RMweb Premium iands Posted April 20, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 20, 2018 I hope you don't mind me contributing to this thread. Found this photo of 47298 in a pile of photos from work. Unfortunately I don't have a date or location, but I believe 47298 was cut up at Rotherham in 2007, so I'm thinking 2006-ish or a bit earlier perhaps? The location could be Tinsley, given the short distance fro there to Rotherham - but this is just a wild guess, I suppose it could be just about anywhere. Unless of course anyone out there could provide more accurate details? Not much to go on though, only a yard light which were/are pretty common. Regards, Ian.

This photo may well have been taken around 1999 as there is a similar one, at a different location - Healey Mills, on www.Class47.co.uk http://www.class47.co.uk/c47_zoom_v3.php?img=0955010166000. Edit: Yours is taken earlier so more likely 1999 - in yours 47298 still has the overhead warning sticker on the cab front Edited April 21, 2018 by brushman47544

Johnfromoz
Here's an early shot of a two-tone green one, with full yellow ends: (989dS) D1950+D3580 Preston 11-8-67 (T Ermel).jpg D1950 heads north from Preston on 11th August 1967, with D3580 in the foreground Trevor Just browsing this topic, and it struck me that this is surely a rare image of a gronk devoid of all warning stripes at such a late date? What do others think? John
Trev52A
Just browsing this topic, and it struck me that this is surely a rare image of a gronk devoid of all warning stripes at such a late date? What do others think? John Well spotted, John! I've never noticed that before. I've used the 'search' function to check on this forum but couldn't find a definitive answer. I also took a photo on the same day showing a better view of the end of D3580 where the lack of 'wasp stripes' is more obvious. I'll start a new topic in the UK Prototype Questions section with this other photo (which also shows 44993 leaving Preston) as I don't want to hijack this 'Class 47 Photos' thread.
