47115 with the afternoon Workington yard-Dover speedlink, just the right size train for us modellers!!.

47115 salt (3).JPG

This was obviously a few year's back, but I have to ask - what traffic would this service have been carrying between Workington and Dover and would this Speedlink service have called anywhere else en route?

Can't see what would be carried from Workington, apart from scrap looking at the wagons, guessing the fuel tanks are empties.

It is listed as the 6O38 16.58 Workington - Dover calling at Corkickle, Warrington Arpley and Willesden.

So chemicals or empties at least being picked up at its next stop.

And I can't quite read the name of this blue example leaving an exhaust haze over Teignmouth in 1989.

The giveaway is the lower position of the small plate under the nameplate. Also has to be from the batch 47586-47627 with lower position ETH and BR blue livery.

A recent purchase from eBay. Could have been a contender for posting in "16t Minerals" or "The Human side of the railway...", but I decided on here.

The location was described as Barton-on-Humber which I think is incorrect, I think it is New Holland Pier - anyone confirm my assumption please? Also, I think the loco is D1864. As this was at one time an Immingham loco in the late '60s, it would certainly fit in with the location.

Look at the ones behind that have sacrificed parts to keep the rest of the fleet operational....
