I reckon the nearest one could be the hapless 47522, shortly before it almost got written off.

47477 demonstrating the original either/or tail light configuration, with 47811 displaying the much later modification of both, something regularly misrepresented in model form.

And 47524 in the typically murky depths over the Met side of the station, remember it well....

I wasn't even aware of this livery variant until this morning. Has it been ever been produced by a model manufacturer/retailer?

Whoever posted the picture on Flickr or whatever it on said the man in the dust coat was a shed foreman,  not the same chap the one here is a guard can't remember his name.

The man in charge here is Bob Willis in  the white shirt and Jeans stood by the loco, he wrote an excellent book a few years ago about his time on the tool Van's,  it seems to be out of print at the moment

He retirement now but a very skilled and modest railway engineer

What's the orangey beacon thing on the cab roof?

IIRC the orange beacon was used for the MGR slow movements (2 mph?) when loading or discharging - a visual sign to staff that the train was actually moving, albeit rather slowly.

47373 was similarly fitted.

Having clawed back some time, LSL 47593 'Galloway Princess' arrives solo into York working the delayed 1Z94 Inverness - Stevenage 'The Statesman' charter. At this stage, the charter was 118 minutes late having been delayed due to 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' derailing in the Tweedmouth area. 47501 'Craftsman' also ran into difficulty having failed on the first day of the 4-day tour, resulting in it being left behind in Tyne Yard.

21st October 2019.
