47604  Perth Station 1987 by Ian Cuthbertson

47604 is seen at Perth Station with a parcels van and Kitchen/buffet coach at 13.36 on 12-3-87. I Cuthbertson collection

The buffet and BG were used on the Clansman between Inverness and Perth, so presumably would have worked north later. The train with the two (visible) Mk2fs in Scotrail livery is interesting too - I don’t recall them being diagrammed for Glasgow/Edinburgh - Inverness services, which were earlier non air-con Mk2s.

Its Mk2Ds that are visible, but yes, while air-con Mk2s weren't common on the Highland mainline they did sometimes make it up there

I was expecting a 66 so a bit of a surprise.

A little earlier at Rosegrove station

So was I as it happened.

I did wonder whether to go out for it, but then thought to check another site to see that 47830 was allocated!

Apparently, according to a post on the WNXX forum, the 47 is also at Midland Road for a spin on the wheel lathe.

There’s an STP path in the schedule for a return working for the class 90 on Sunday.  Unknown if 47830 will be doing the honours.

I’ve often wondered why the Scottish Region moved the ETH receptacle down onto the buffer beam on its 47/4s (as per 47461 on the right) but didn’t do the same with the 47/7s.

Better position re snowploughs, which 47/7s didn’t carry.
