Photo by Tim Gornall : 1660 'City Of Truro' at Crewe Works, some time in 1973, it only carried this version of pre-Tops blue with the numbers behind the cab doors for a short period as it was renumbered 47 076 in February 1974, previous to this it was repainted from green to blue in the Factory at Old Oak in 1971 and was given serif style numbers on all four cab sides....

Nice one Ray - if not the same day then very likely a day or two either side of it, and it proves that it only carried this variation of pre-Tops blue for a maximum of six months.

Had a veritable feast of 47 sightings today whilst working 6Z91 from Battersea to Crewe - dear old 'City Of Truro' past me on a stock move and when I arrived at Basford Hall one of the two tone green jobs came along the independant lines, I also saw D1935 on the depot looking extremely good with its original bufferbeam skirts intact. All very refreshing!
