Apparently it was dumped and it’s position couldn’t have been worse for photos there. It does rather draw the eye, but an interesting photo nonetheless. 1

It couldn't have had to wait long as I visited Crewe Works late March 76 and found the last vac-only 47s going through - 47096/102/108 waiting with 47157 just done and still in primer (as was 47601) - 47148 had already been dual-braked by then.

eastwestdivide
Bit of a random selection... A damp Warrington in April 1983, Manchester waste train I think: Norwich Trowse about 1985 I think: Chinley with cement about 1987, remains of signalbox and station building still there, but down to two tracks: S&C diversion double-headed at Dent in 1989:

Rugd1022
Yes it's back to four tracks now with overhead 'knitting' everywhere. The junction is still only 20mph though!

Flittersnoop
Double-headed 47s, I think on the climb from Stroud to Sapperton. I think this train was from Longbridge to Swindon. I was a supply teacher at this time (the early 1990s?), teaching music at a school in Stroud in an old building right next to the railway line. The whole place shook for ages when this long train went past every morning. I wish I had got a photo of it on a decent day, instead of in the mist.

In the comments on the photo is a suggestion that these coaches were used for some filming at Marylebone. There are further photos of some of the stock in that stream. It looks like the rear 3 coaches at least must have been used or at least in the station for a few months if the dates are accurate. Simon
