Class 47 photos

Recommended Posts

Thanks Chaps! :friends: I will post only the pics' from now on as all the dates i'm posting are all going wrong lately, please feel free to blame 'Her Indoors' for chucking all my note books away,  it's just a good job she kept all the old negs' even though she had deliberately hidden them all away for nearly 20 years :threaten: .

47544 passes the disused Team Valley Trading Estate exchange sidings at Low Fell with an Anglo-Scottish express on 6th July 1975.

(Hmm, not sure if Anglo-Scottish should include capital letters or not)

I've been wondering about renumbering Bachmann's 47435 when it arrives to 47544, since the roof details etc. are correct. However, this photo is dated July 1975, shortly after being converted to ETH and renumbering, and it still has the 4 character headcode panel. I have found plenty of photos of the loco in 1977 by when it has a yellow panel, so my question is, did it ever carry dominos? Can anyone confirm one way or the other please? Funnily enough it was my first Class 47 haulage in 1976, but at that time I didn't have a camera and don't remember!

One from the late '80's, 47 422 heads South under Cemetary Rd at SP Wigan. Some may find the old Red coach interesting. Was part of the overhead line maintenance train based at SP. but now seen here on the stored/scrap line.

This photo narrows it down to March 1976 and still with head code....

While I have them to hand, please find below a few of the last workings of 1M34 Newhaven Marine-Manchester Piccadilly, taken in the early mornings around Lewes.  They are all April to May, 1987.

If you can make it out, it is the Solari destination board on the last service, 10th May, 1987, at Hayward's Heath.  "NEWHAVEN MARINE | For boat services to DIEPPE".

47 540 on the last 1O90 at Hayward's Heath, 10th May, 1987.  Did anyone else photograph it, further north and in brighter light?
