RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted May 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 11, 2020 (edited) A couple of green 47s. 47500 GREAT WESTERN powers away from Reading's platform 8 on the 0850 Paddington to Oxford on February 20th 1986. 47628 SIR DANIEL GOOCH at Stafford on June 17th 1985. I can't recall ever going there specifically so I think this was taken on a day trip to Chester when the Crewe remodelling was taking place and we must have had to change there. A bit of topic, but back in Railtrack days I was carrying out some Telecoms inspections at Battersby. At lunch time I had a little walk along past where 47554 is to the buffer stop. Quite a few of the chairs were dated 1915. Don't think the track has been relayed so the century old chairs are probably still there. Owd Bob
A named 47 passing Parkside/ Kenyon on a Trans Pennine, a white roofed 47 inside Reddish shed. Taken around 1982.
RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted May 16, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) I think there was only one 47 around in 1982 with a two line nameplate which would make it 47537 Sir Gwynedd/County of Gwynedd, named in November that year. Owd Bob
Another lot of my bad scans from the early '80's. Early morning mist and Sunrise over the Co-Op glass works as a 47 approaches Springs Branch Junc' from the south on the WCML. 47 243 passes Springs Branch depot heading south with some full but clean looking MGR wagons, note the two stabled sandite vehicles DMUs. 47 ??? passes Parkside on the Liv'-Man' seen from just behind the Huskisson memorial. Lastly 47 315 on a Sunny SP depot.
