Irishswissernie
Here is another Flickr set, Tavannes is a small station on the SBB route from Biel to Moutier. It is also a terminus of the Central of Jura metre gauge line from Noirmont. There is (or was) some interchange of freight between the 2 systems either via rollschemell or by container. On my last visit containers were being transported on the CJ (possibly household rubbish) to the station hauled by an ex RhB Chur-Arosa railcar and then loaded onto special lorries rather than the SBB. Possibly the destination was a local landfill. Take a look at the wonderful architecture of the hotels by the station! The link below will take you to the sketch plan at the beginning of the set (61 photos) http://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/10115350745/ Ernie
swisspeat
Thanks very much for these excellent shots Ernie. First time I have seen pics of beet being loaded in CH. Another idea for my next layout! Kind regards, Swisspeat
