Andrew P
That's looking really good mate, simple but very effective operation.
mark axlecounter
Thanks Andy. Bucks Lane is simple up and down trains. It has the goods yard entrance what makes the operator's think and to work as a team because of the single slip trains have to cross over to the other line which blocks both lines. Well I managed to get down to the club last night but didn't get chance to do anything on BL due to people wanting help and that I only had 2 hours at the club didn't help, so I didn't get any pics done. Hopefully next week will be better. I will let the operator's refresh and I will be working on getting on with scenic work. Mark

mark axlecounter
Well the show was good and we had a lot though the door witch is always good. Bucks lane was set up on the Friday when we hit our first problem, We was put in the main hall (good spot ) but the floor sloped down half way so one half of bl was level and the other half sloped down. The adjusters helped but the floor was 6 inch lower at one end, We got it to the stage where the trains would run ok still had a bit of a slope. Apart from that the layout ran very well with only a few driver/signalling error's ( blame Dave). The one thing I wanted to do was get pictures and I never got chance to get any, so I am sorry that I said I would but I was busy running the layout. Hopefully one of our club members got a few so I might be able to get them off him.
mark axlecounter
The only picture I have of the show was this from one of our club members
mark axlecounter
Now that the show is out of the way I have been busy sorting out little bits. We had a signal fail at the show ( ratio plastic ones ) so the decision was made to replace the signals from brass. Here are some pics of the signals so far. They all work including the little disc dolly. Any comments welcome. Edited May 5, 2017 by mark axlecounter

mark axlecounter
Thanks Andy and George. I have built a few for the clubs layout then when mine failed at the show I thought i should make some out of brass. The shunt doll is from palatine models and are very nice to build. The LMS stem signal is from wizard models and the arms are from Alan Gibbson.
mark axlecounter
Just an update. I have fitted the signals to bucks lane and tested them all working including the little ground dolls.I got some pics on Monday but after the news in Manchester I didn't feel it appropriate to post them until now.All the signals were made from brass unlike the original ones they were the ratio signals, not as strong as the brass ones.Any comments are welcome. mark axlecounter
I built a bunt out brake van from an old Dapol kit. We use it to show a simple shunt move now that the new signals are in place here are the pics showing how its done.
mark axlecounter
One more pic of one of the new signals. WD waiting at the peg I now need to freshen up the ballast. Edited May 27, 2017 by mark axlecounter
mark axlecounter
Due to holidays and doing my demo at expo there has been some progress on bucks lane from the last time I updated it. I have now made the curve boards more stronger I was having problems with the boards saggingin the middle. I have touched up the ballast and weathered the areas so it has made a big difference. I had a buffer stop where the bridge is near the station from the goods yard well that is now running round to the fiddle yard so I can have a train come from the fiddle yard to the goods yard without going on the main. Or I can go onto the main with a train. When I next go down to the club I will get some pics of what has been done. Mark
Andrew P
Good to see some progress Mark, I'm looking forward to the pics to understand what you've been up to mate. All the best.
67A
Hi Mark, Just had my first look at Bucks Lane, you've got yourself a nice operational layout there and those signals are fabulous mate. Does the layout connect to another section at the station end?
