jrossouw79
Nice! Just enough to have a little fun after supper Cheers Jacques
DanielB
Lovely. Perfectly captures that 'is it abandoned, is it not?' look that US shortlines tend to have. One to be proud of there mate!

devious diesel
Hello All Thanks for the positive feedback. I spent yesterday putting together a couple of new trestles on which the layout now sits. (I would have got it done quicker if they had been supplied with some assembly instructions). After reading Lance Mindheim's books I have set the layout at about 50 inch high. This has really improved the operation of the layout. David.
Alcanman
Great work David, I like the spacious look you've achieved in a small area. I also like the neatness of your work. Your layout has got me thinking. Like you, I've built a small North American Inglenook and a Timesaver, perhaps it's time to try something different mmmm...... LNRR
Very nicely done! Hard to believe that your layout is only 6 feet long. Look's nice and open while still capturing the look of a many US industrial spurs or branch lines.
devious diesel
Hi Once again thanks for the positive comments. I think that this project is completed. I feel any major addition's to the layout would be counterproductive. I am going to concentrate on the operational side of things for bit. I have been reading Lance Mindheims book on switching layout operations and rather like the slow and steady approach he takes. I can also take my time and think about my next project. This youtube clip interest me. David
Alcanman
Nice video David. Thinking about something different for my next project, maybe a winter snow scene , it'll certainly hide my code 100 track! Mal
Broadoak
Very nice indeed David just my sort of railroad. Regards Peter M
devious diesel
I have decided that the original inglenook layouts days are number. After 18 months faultless running its time it made way for another project. If anyone is interested in taking it off my hands (l live near Selby let me know. DanielB
Hi David, How much are you looking at for it? Thanks, Dan
Zomboid
Haven't seen this thread before. Some good modelling going on, will be delighted if my inglenook ends up looking anything like as good as these.
devious diesel
Hi Don't really know how much perhaps £100 I might just recycle the baseboard for another project. David

devious diesel
Hopefully the link should be of my experiments with an MRC 1909 decoder fitted under the baseboard (sorry about the poor camera work). The idea was pinched from the Yorkford PA layout at the Leeds MRS. David
shortliner
Hopefully the link should be of my experiments with an MRC 1909 decoder fitted under the baseboard (sorry about the poor camera work). DanielB
Recycling the boards/track/etc for another project is good - keeps your costs down.
CSX2004
Another picture, I don't think the code 100 track looks too good in this shot. I wanted to use code 83 but funds are tight so having to use what I already have to hand. David Looks great!. What product did you use for modeling the grass?
devious diesel
Hi Daniel My idea of recycling the boards hasn't worked not to worry I find conti board works for me, it is also cheap and readily available, Hi CSX2004 I bought Noch type puffer bottle and some static grass at a model railway show, I think a electric static grass applicator would probably do a better job. I am very much a budget modeller. For example the sound decoder set up came to £43, its sound pretty good for EMD stuff but I couldn't recommend it for Alco's. David. devious diesel
Another test of the MRC decoder, This time trying to make Alco type noises. I an not claiming its brilliant but it does add some play value. David
devious diesel
I have been playing around with mrc decoder which is fitted under the baseboard. The sound seemed very high pitched so I made little speaker box out of aerosol lid and its made a surprising difference to the quality of the sound. I can post another video if anyone's interested?.
