Some cracking work Alex.

Those vans do look nicely weathered and ready for work.

Will they make a return working with an Ivatt 2MT up front?

Glad JJ is in hand to record proceedings.

Cheers,

Mark

Vans for Upwell Drove wait in the yard at Diddington for transport to the SWAG members day.

Looks like that photograper fellow is around somewhere.....63783882_VansforUpwellDrove1.jpg.974cd01c5e5d6a39abecda9f152534c8.jpg112187551_VansforUpwellDrove2.jpg.cb9b95a9c584ef7c5a9bc4a1641f4910.jpg

Alex.

Wow! What an absolutely stunning scene, I am in awe of your modelling and ability. The weathering of those vans and the colouring and blending of the overall picture is honestly some of the best modelling I have ever seen! Highly impressive stuff.

Morning Alex.

Really looking forward to seeing this at Taunton.

I suspect Norman and Jonte will be comparing notes.

Mark and David - thank you for the kind comments. I just love vans, and actually always seem to have ideas for half a dozen more tah I can make at any one time.

After nearly 50 years at this, I finally feel I'm starting to get somewhere and obtain the atmosphere I want. If I was starting again, there are bits of Diddington that I  would do differently, but I,ve got lots of ideas for improvements which will keep me occupied for years to come.

It appears that Jonty is currently lurking in deepest Somerset. He assures me he will be at Taunton however. In the meantime it has fallen to his stalker to take a few photographs.

Here are 46440 and 46496 laving Diddington with a train of fruit bound for the midlands. The train is double headed because of the hilly nature of the line between Huntingdon and Kettering. The J70 that delivered the vans from Upwell Drove can be seen waiting in the headshunt.1508012969_FruittrainleavesDiddington1.jpg.38c8fad5682c282bce0ced270cf72522.jpg2124844466_FruittrainleavesDiddington2.jpg.1b13cc4b704f631419299c727601f462.jpg

Wonderful shot Alex. Very reminiscent of the fruit trains synonomous with line.

J70 looks at home on Diddington...

Have a great time on Sunday in Taunton.

Upwell Drove has been set up in the garage to test changes ahead of the SWAG members day. The landscaping is now nearly done, just one small bit left.

It will have to wait util May though. Stock needs checking and there's a new J70 to weather.

A similar view was captured by Sheldon Fopp, a Devon artist who was on holiday in the area.

Another J70, 68223, has arrived at Upwell Drove. I've put an entry about how I did the weathering in the Weathering, Painting and Transfers section. 89346558_68223arrives.jpg.a5f67aa08ccd56664e1b9e165ce29ad7.jpg1695758489_68223bywatercolumn.jpg.87ad148ee197ec4798ed20456480a567.jpg

Rob, I really like the sky in Shedon's photograph.

Er............nope...........that would be madness.......I mean.......it would need it's own layout to play on......and it would get lonely on its own......so would need a friend.........

Good evening Alex,

Just a quick one to say how nice the layout looked on Sunday.  Spot on and very appealing to me it was to.

Also, and disturbingly so, how much at home did the delightful J70 look on Bleat Wharf !!!?

Worried of Cardiff....

Upwell Drove is now up and running again following the completion of buiding works in the railway room. An early visit by Jonty Chambers caught 68223 arriving with a 1949 style freight.1754753161_23.6.201768223arrivingatUpwellDrove.jpg.9837babb9d1644044f1cef0eb7853f81.jpg

Wonderful snap that JC has taken there.

Glad all is back up and running. More snaps from JC please.

I haven't posted any updates here for a while as I've been busy with other projects. Upwell Drove is currently being prepared for the Yealmpton show next month. I mentioned earlier in this thread that the installation of a fitted cupboard in the room where the layout lives meant a reduction in the size of Elm Lane, so here are some pictures of the refurbished board.  More picutres of Upwell Drove will follow soon.
