BernardTPM
I have always had a soft spot for the APT-P and I regret that I never got a chance to ride on it. Still, I have a pair of Hornby ones carefully packed away in the loft so all is not lost. It was a good ride - I still have my boarding pass! (Day trip to Preston)
DJM Dave
It was a good ride - I still have my boarding pass! (Day trip to Preston) The APT-P is my Concorde, having seen both many times but never rode on either :-(
Gerald Henriksen
Depends what scale they choose to model, 3.5 or 4mm. Or maybe their detail obsessiveness will lead to the first RTR P4 loco? The Nim. Jason does have a small amount of 4mm equipment already.
Grovenor
The Rapido website does specifically state 00 gauge. Keith

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2013 COOL!!!!! Indeed - 183 mph wasn't bad for 1966! And on ordinary track, too.
pete_mcfarlane
Finally, Bill and I head to the UK next month to scope out a neat little British train we really want to make - in OO gauge, no less! (Get your strange UK train horns out - beep-BOOP!) But that's another story. I like this guessing game Does 'check out' mean that they are going to look at a real example? Which narrows it down to something that still exists (so not the Fell!). And is 'neat little' just a colloquialism, or is the prototype small? Guest CPRAIL3000
I hope they did not laser scan the DOC when in Montreal or the nose shape will be incorrect due to a large dent on the front. See it here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41708145@N06/6378578107/in/photolist-aHDT3B-9MQEdd-fARvbe-fARxSF-aoXiaX-aNm3F2-aMXLMt-aUw19R-aUvXxe-dtyYkr-aUw7v4-aUw3ee-aHDPa6-aHDKKv-av7jyc-ava1Yu-av7kXV-anVfU9-apgFGE-aNm8WK-ec1X5X-apdUtn-aNm798-dtF5bx-aohGzC-dtEunf-aNm5wn-aMXwEX-dtLBi1-aMXySz-aMXDsa-aMXJoz-aMXFMz-anSsKT-ec8q1b-arhJbh-aoWZPa-8YV2sK-g7MgV5-g7MkWH-g7N3yT-g7M4BP-g7Nk1R-aoX49c

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2013 Very tenuous! On the other hand they could also have been paying a sly visit to Pete's establishment at Crewe - and keeping that bit quiet (very nice looking engines those little SAR Garrattsj ). Ozexpatriate
What a bath tub full of froth this thread is! Very entertaining. Finally, Bill and I head to the UK next month to scope out a neat little British train we really want to make - in OO gauge, no less! (Get your strange UK train horns out - beep-BOOP!) But that's another story. [/size]Can we extrapolate that the reference to two tone horns implies something other than a water boiler? Rapido makes very nice detailed models of "modern image", ummm "diesel and electric", ummm "traction", ummm whatever it is that fans of things that don't boil water for propulsion call their preferred model subjects. It will be interesting to watch this space.
Roy P
It was a good ride - I still have my boarding pass! (Day trip to Preston) I did that ride too. The Royal Scot relief they called it. I wonder if the two guys who asked me to swap seats so that they could see the mile posts are members here. With stop watches, calculator and note pad they informed us in the leading vehicle that we did Tring cutting at 132mph. I was sitting opposite a gentleman returning to Glasgow who was generous with his McEwans. I reciprocated. First time I ever stood in a buffet car trying to compensate for that degree of tilt....Honest! RP
