RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 4, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 4, 2013 Would that be 558A? I don't know anything about Railcom, sadly.
Anthony Ashley
Dear All, Correction to my original question as outlined above it is the 6 pin Bachmann decoder 36-558A. Regards, Anthony
Ron Ron Ron
Anthony, you can edit your original post and topic heading to correct the mistake. You also posted in the wrong section, but this thread has now been moved to the correct place. As for the 36-558A. No it doesn't support RailCom. However, any non-RailCom decoder can be used with a RailCom equipped layout. You just won't obtain any bi-directional comms from the non-RalCom equipped loco's. A way around this is to fit a separate RailCom transceiver module inside the loco, alongside the non-RailCom decoder. It won't provide the full RailCom functionality, but will provide most of the important features of the system. .
Anthony Ashley
Ron, Thanks for the info. I have not chipped any locos as of yet so am decideing the best decoder option, which appears is not Bachmann 6 pin for N gauge as I want RailCom as an option. Next question is if the LDT RM-GB-8-N supports Railcom detection. Regards, Anthony
