Sprinter Delivery in 1984. I don't know how the 150 is attached as I thought that they had BSI couplers.

1984 6-26 25089 (150001) Derby

No problem as long as they had NEM coupling pockets.

Emergency coupling, get a fitter to remove the screw shackle and fit the adaptor in its place, over the drawbar hook!

Like one of these, fitted to a 153 that had a siezed axle.

The hard part is getting the shackle off........

Notice the coupling adapter includes an air or MR pipe - so presumably the unit can be hauled fitted, intstead of unfitted at 25 mph with brake vans (as happened with a lot of EMUs in the late-'70s/early-'80s - even the delivery of the new 317s and 455s)

The Westcode brake system and auto air brake are incompatible, the main reservoir pipe is used to release the automatic parking brake fitted to the 14X and 15X series units.

If you thought that the two Restaurant Cars in the early HSTs was extravagant....

Now, that is my kind of catering for a long journey. Breakfast in one, lunch in the next, and..... well you get the idea.

The one I wouldn't want to be on was this one with no catering at all....

Hi Jonny,

Should the fourth coach not be a sleeping car rather than the SO pictured ?

I suspect a snooze would be in order after that kind of carry on !

my eye was drawn to those gangways covers in jonny777's pic.

Never seen yellow ones before, how odd! - but on closer look, seem to be red/blue liveried RTC/Research/Test stock

The two original 150s and the 151s had PBL two pipe air brakes so could be hauled at 45mph the later westcode fitted ones were only 10mph emergency assistance as the loco can't work the train brakes.  The only braking being application of the parking brake on the unit

Yes Gibbo, I thought about that but I decided not to mention anything because it would only attract the pedants telling me that "the sleepers were loco-hauled only and would not be compatible without modifications yada yada"

Canton breakdown mess an tool vans; breakdown crane to right with it’s mess and tool vans.  Yellow ends for propelling.  1977 shot; HST still in as new condition and 47 entering carriage sidings with airco stock from a down Padd.

I’m probably a few yards out of frame to the right, propping the bar in the Craddock...

Took me a while to recognise Canton there. Looks little changed from the steam era from that angle.

What were the white roofed carriages next to the breakdown train?
