I'm not sure of the date of the photo. It's captioned as the last mail train from Lincoln St Marks and that station was closed in May 1985, but the trees suggest a different time of year. There's some information on the train here.

It looks like it was transferred to Central at some earlier time as it certainly continued running - this photo is dated 1987 and rhe link I posted previously indicates it was running until 1991.

What a great couple of photos! The red rectangle and beginnings of the Tinsley white rose suggest it was needed in traffic before its unofficial name could be added. 45012 finished its days as Wyvern II. RMweb Gold john new Posted March 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) In another thread this link to YouTube shows at 2:50 an ECML combination at Peterborough I don’t remember seeing. The 43s were used before the DVTs were ready and were initially dead in tow. However, this was found to damage the traction motors, so they were run in multiple in order to avoid this. 3
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted March 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) IIRC The IC125 power cars were used as the the DVTs weren't ready at the time the 91 powered service was introduced so some HST power cars were used instead. Hence the buffers on the power car as well. Gave a pretty awesome power to weight ratio when both operating! RMweb Gold russ p Posted March 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2021 I was lucky enough to get a drive of that combination when route learning, absolutely awesome Another reason why it had to have the powercar running was to supply power to the train 91s have conventional ETH which is not compatible with the three phase HST system 2
