18000ft = 3.41 miles - 9 locos, 39,600 to 40,500hp, depending on make/model and power unit fitted...

Any SD80s & SD90s in the rake?

UP at one time had quite a few 6000hp SD90s.

I think the SD90's have all been rebuilt now. The loco's in that vid look like GE units.

Similarly, and if you don't want all and sundry to notice your cock-up, do it when it's a bit foggy.

Is there any data on how much of these vehicles are recycled?

They don’t last long that’s for sure, Simms at Newport at taking a train a week generally. With only a run round loop at the site they must drag them off the rails for disposal or cut them as soon as they arrive.

Most of the scrap is exported i believe.

Taken between Doncaster Works and the station, at least it couldn't have happened closer to somewhere that could do repairs.

From a quick look back through, they were all GE 4400hp units, either ES44AC, ET44AC or AC4400CW types

Part of the reason I asked my question, was because I saw the unit had a pantograph on the roof. I would have thought that such items could be re-used before the vehicle went for scrap.

Material is quite  often removed by the breakers for reuse by the former owners, Tiphook recovered brake gear and bogies from vehicles scrapped at TJ Thompsons at Stockton.

The sole representative of the class re-engined by Mazda proved to have imported some aspects of its Japanese heritage.....

But the Japanese drive on the left like us.... :scratch_one-s_head_mini:
