Revenue steam hauled freight in the 21st Century?

Try Strasburg Railroad where a reasonable size train of 14 cars was worked to their yard, complete with wheelslip on starting:

On a similar note, class 120 driving motors with a class 101 trailer hauling a CCT.

Mixed DMU plus CCT

That's rather good. Imagine the climb up to Tallerdigg. And you could have sat behind the driver & watched the line ahead....

They had nice raspy exhausts too.  Always liked 120s had the pleasure of driving a couple as a secondman on the whitby line when some were sent to Heaton to cover for failed 143s

...I bet "those" chasses ride better than the things that ended up under them!

Kev.

(put a yellow JCB, or two, in the picture and the whole scene would look like a scrap yard.)

Anyone ID the bogie wagons under the Pacer bodies?

They look like Salmons and Borails - except they would be much longer than the Pacer bodies than these wagons appear to be.

Cheers

Seen today on the Real Trainspotting FB group, a class 47 failed on the S&C with a heavy ballast train. A class 25 was summoned to assist. that couldn't move the load. It so happened an A4 was going light engine the other way and was summoned/hijacked to help and the entourage eventually got going, triple headed by a tender-first A4, 25 and dead 47! 1980-ish.
