Steven B Compare the wheel diameter to the gap and you would realise apart from a bumpy ride that it's not going to derail. Now try it on a bend! Now if they had undone a fishplate and forced the rail sideways............ 4
RMweb Premium JDW Posted December 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2020 Not sure where else to put it, this thread seems as good as any. The title ("Saving..."), and the way they handle it don't seem to match... Can't help but think if this had been one of the UK heavy haulage firms, they'd have just lined a trailer up with the track it's on and winched it on board with some bridging track. 3

duncan
Why bother with the crane, a set of jacks would have been fine, surprised they didn't knock off when the loco was right across the road !
73c
I'm wondering if the workmen in that video, later swapped their hardhats for Stetsons and rode off into the sunset after that dogs dinner of a job.

Whilst it took a long time to get to a full derailment, I noticed the train was getting shorter and shorter.... Resistance Fer, the French Resistance's railway branch had a much simpler technique for 'stopping the job'; they would simply let locos run into the turntable well at the rotonde (roundhouse).

seraphim
Rarely a good sign when the cutting torches come out. The pilots are grounding on the steel plates because of the angle of the ramp track. Where actually is this - there is a steam loco visible in the distance early on? Wickham Green too
I agree there's certainly no NEED to stoop to abusive language .............................. but it does liven up a discussion about idiotic children who should have stayed in their museum. Our Christmas plan is not affected as it had always been our plan to have Christmas on our own in our own house. Wickham Green too
As they keep pointing out on the media - we're social animals and contact helps our mental well-being ....... even after the stress of travel and/or visitors ! I'll probably have a Co-op turkey sandwich for Christmas dinner - then spend the afternoon figuring out how to play Monopoly against myself ................................................... though scanning slides from Kings Cross, Liverpool Street, Marylebone etc. etc. would probably be a better use of time ! 1
Wickham Green too
............... but there are lots of other people in this world, less fortunate than ourselves, who don't have the benefit of a hobby to share with kindred spirits and who WILL have a lonely Christmas - bear THEM in your thoughts. 3 3
