Whitecroft Lane (00 Gauge)

My first (and very poor) attempt at an Exhibition Layout!  :locomotive:
Set in the 1960's, and based on the southern region, this is a small shunting yard loosely based on some sidings at Poole station. The layout when put together it is 6ft x 1ft, but it can be split into 2 3ft x 1ft sections for transportation!
I started the layout, of half of it, in the summer of 2012 for a competition set up by Hornby Magazine Called the '3ft challenge', of which I came second in the 'Under 16's' category, and after the competition I decided to see if I could convert it into a proper layout, and to my surprise, it worked!
It recently had it's first outing at SDJR7F88's Compton Martin Exhibition!
Next job is getting the layout to stand up, and as there's limited space underneath, that's going to be tricky! :jester:

Super work mate! Glad to see you got the topic started! :locomotive: Like the plans to make it self standing, that would really help at next years exhibition! :jester: Plus what turf did you use? As I'm looking to get some for my yard update! :mail:

Thanks mate! May have to use detachable legs! I honestly don't know, I'll let you know as soon as I find out! :)

Nice work, I look forward to more pictures.

Thank you! The layout is now in the middle of major work, so as soon as it's in a suitable state, then I will take some more!

Superb layout, very atmospheric, well done mate. :locomotive:

Thank you mate! The atmospherics only really come into effect at night, as in the day it looks like a toy to be honest! I am curremtly in the process of trying to make it atmospheric in the day as well! :)

Update on the work Whitecroft Lane is undergoing, both what I have done, and going to do!

This section of track has been completely dug up, a piece of Cardboard put underneath in 1 or 2 places, then relayed and reballasted:

The curve is a completely new piece as the old one had warped with the layout:

Small field where the tank was has been completely dug up. Now I need to hoover up any loose material, paint with a very watery Brown, then relay Foliage:

Painted ballast with Slightly watered down Black paint to simulate Grease and Oil:

Will remove Info-Pouches, and paint side board Black:

Finally, I'm going to repaint Fiddle-yard board's Black, and add Black Back scene as I want Whitecroft Lane to be set at night:

Thanks! That exactly why I'm setting it at night! LOL
I hope so, but with this stuff at school, it's becoming more and more difficult to. So most new uploads will be like my most recent one, just a compilation of clips or pictures with music. This is as some people have taken the liberty of Downloading my videos off onto separate media, so I'm making them in this style, so they've got nothing to laugh at! :)
Will do, you too!
Matt

LOL! I forgot you are having it set at night! :jester:

LOL! :jester:

Maybe have some lights on the backscene painted on?

Funny you should say that, as that's what I was going to try and do! LOL!
