Or a combination of all of the above?! I generally don't use the airbrush for weathering. To me it always looks like it's been airbrushed. On these I used a watery acrylic paint of a muddy brown with a hint of black. Painted on left for a few minutes then cleaned off with dry or moist cotton buds depending on how it was drying. Always in downwards direction. Then finished with a rust coloured powder, on the iron bits. I use a stiff brush to apply this and a bigger one to try and work it of the area's I don't want it. 1 1

I don't normally like overdone wagon liveries, but that EA Stevenson design does have a certain something about it. I did too. I liked the colour and the fact it's only a 5 plank wagon. My aim is to model Bodmin north so models are aimed at that. I know in LSWR days the gas works was feed coal in 5 plank opens, I presume they were easier to hand unload than the bigger ones or where they unloaded was unsuited to them. I guess that SR continued the process at least in the early days.
N15class
Thomas has now had pickups fitted and runs well in both directions. Not sure why it sounds like an electric tin opener in the videos. It is actually much quieter in real life. Just the brakes to put back on, the blackhead to fit. The face to make and a stencil for the number. I think little man will like it. Just need to get the base boards and track down. Oh of course Annie and Claribel.
N15class
Thomas just needs his face glueing on properly, just held with a bit of double sided tape moment. Apart from that he's finished. I'm pleased with the way it's turned out. Given the trials of wrong paints etc, mostly through not paying enough attention. Lessons learnt. Now need to find a couple of 4 wheeled coaches for Tom to pull. Not had much luck on fleabag, might have to bite the bullet and get a couple Jim. Now for a little picture overload. Need to make an oversized lamp for it too. 10
N15class
A blast from the past. Needs transfers, varnish and the reassemble finished. That's the lot 8
RMweb Premium 30368 Posted June 26, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 26, 2019 Hi N15, Is this 4mm scale? Looks very very nice. I see you modelled what I assume to be the original Adams design with square spectacle windows. Keep up the very good work! The 0395 class was my first scratch built loco (10 years ago) and I guess it shows a bit! 30567 is a little rough in places compared to your rather lovely model. She does though run quite well and forms part of my attempt to build an example of every 0-6-0 tender loco inherited by BR SR in 1948. Think I only need the ex LBSC C3 and SER 01 (kit purchased from Branchlines still to build) for the set. Kind regards, Richard B 11

I see like me you kept the large tool box on the back although it seems to of gone by the 1930's.
Guest Jack Benson
Hi, Very nice 0395, may I ask; were the large square cab windows glazed or merely apertures in the spectacle plate? Cheers and Stay Safe

RMweb Premium DLT Posted February 16, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2021 Hi Peter, Lovely work on the 0395. I couldn't see much on the cab detailing though, did you get very far with that aspect? All the best, Dave.
N15class
I'm afraid not much was done last year, the 0395 is more or less as the last post. I did manage to build two SR wagons one ex LSWR and the other a fitted SR one. Both from old kits. The LSWR from ABS and the SR one from janick? 1

My scratch built 0395 represents the version that were fitted with an ex LC&DR boiler and modified cab spec plate. Built a long time ago and very dusty! RMweb Premium Blandford1969 Posted April 3, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 3, 2022 Looking good, how did you make the bracket on top of the splasher which holds the feed water delivery pipe?

It was very simple, sort of goes with me. It's cut from 010" sheet, the loop at the top starts out as a 1mm strip that curves out wider. Then just a little oblong tab that solders to the splasher, and the top was rolled around a suitable drill bit.
