JeffP
The midlands and East Anglia tonight....well if Crewe is the midlands, but two have sneaked in from there. Cambridge station stabling point, circa 1994, the cabs of RES liveried class 47's, with 47635 and 47707 identifiable. Cambridge station stabling point and class 47, 47770, "Reserved" is stabled on a Saturday, circa June 1994. Longer shot of the stabling point at Cambridge station, circa June 1994. I think there were either seven, or eight similar locos stabled that day. Cambridge station, and class 158's 158782 and 158790 are awaiting their next duties, circa 1994. Crewe works open day, class 50, 50007, "Sir Edward Elgar" is ex-works in GWR green. Nameplate of the above loco. Popular Post JeffP
Earlier than normal post tonight, while I have time. Packing to go to France tonight for the 4.20am ferry tomorrow. Near to Kirton Lime Sidings, on the line from Barnetby to Gainsborough, a pair of class 20's. led by 20056 hauls empty coal hoppers west. Looking the other way, same place, and an unidentified, but new-looking, class 56 is hauling loaded coal hoppers east. Both late 80's. Frodingham, and class 47, 47366 "The Institution of Civil Engineers" is stabled outside the shed. Railfreight red and grey liveried class 31 brings a mixed freight south through Doncaster on the fast lines. Sunset and an overall view of Frodingham depot, from the entrance to the old Ironstone Branch loco shed on Dawes Lane. Classes 45, 31, 25 and 56 are in shot. Now I THINK this is at Cleethorpes and is waiting to take an excursion back to South Yorkshire, mid 80's, certainly pre-86 as my eldest son was born then, and we didn't have him when we made this trip......Class 45, 45001. My wife and I had taken bikes to Cleethorpes to ride round the Wolds. On the way back we caught this excursion, but it was so long that it didn't fit properly in the platform at Scunthorpe station, and the guard had to pass our bikes down onto the trackside, where we waited for the train to depart before walking along the trackside to the station. I wonder what they'd say about that now? Since I'll be in France until 20/04, and the photos are here on this 'puter, there will be no more until then, sorry. JeffP
Well, we are here, after a decent but tiring journey...slept twelve hours straight last night. Unfortunately, the main computer here refuses to boot up, so I'm on the wife's work laptop. I hate laptops..........
HitchinLoco
Not wishing to detract any thing from this brilliant thread, But there are some old steam pics on Face Book I have just found not sure if any members are enrolled in it and already know? They are under We Are From Hitchin you need to scroll down quite away but there are some interesting shots that may be of interest to some modelers. JeffP
Yes, I'm back, but have run out of photos. I have recently been given some more, but a lot are similar to mine, since the photographer is a good friend and was standing next to me when he took the shots. I'll have to have a look.
