Michael Delamar
Re unbalanced workings, sometimes Huskisson goods would require brake vans, here 76077 is taking some down there. This is a recent build with Comet chassis, Markits wheels and Portescap, a Bachmann body and tender. Looks like I might have to go EM You can dip your toe in the water now without having to build your own track as the society has it's own ready to lay track. However I love track building and building your own is way way cheaper than buying it ready made. You still have to change the wheels of course but unlike P4 you don't need springing or compensation. I've just returned to EM as 00 just wasn't doing it for me. Regards Lez.
Tom D
Hi Mike, Great to see progress again for Walton on the Hill, the layout and your garage looks really impressive. Did your coal train for Clarence dock have to reverse at Huskisson? Curious as to how the train would have been sorted by MDHB, were there sidings on the dock road? Best regards, Tom D
Michael Delamar
Yes they were split in to shorter rakes and taken there by Mersey docks and harbour board locos. You can see them in the right background in Huskisson with the line under Sandhills station going off to the right. 7

Stephenwolsten
It's good to see long trains and smooth running like this. I want a building like that too!

andytrains
OWS is Overhead Warning Sign. OHLE is the Overhead Line Equipment.

Popular Post Michael Delamar
It’s actually OLE not OHLE nowadays but that’s enough taking the thread way off topic.:) On 4th November 1961, 60 years ago today, Gorton's 63743 stands at the neck of Walton shed yard while Walton's own 44605 passes with a 41 wagon freight heading for Huskisson Goods. Photograph: John Ward. The first shot I’ve seen of this end of the yard, Ive only just been shown it today, Just in front of the wagon is where the turntable was. And we can now see the shed exit ground signal in front of the 4f, it’s position was always a mystery. We got this area quite accurate, but we can get it even more so now thanks to this shot. Very neat and accurate spotting notes - if only mine were such, just a scrawl of numbers !! Brit15
Vulcanspotter
Michael Delamar, I also wish to build a model railway based on Walton triangle as I used to live in Crescent road which backs on to the CLC line. My earliest memory of seeing a steam train is when I was taken in a push chair to watch the trains go by at Hartleys bridge. I am sure I saw a Black 5 go past. With my friends we used to play around the seven sisters and watch the freight trains going towards Walton tunnel no 1. The date could have been 1968. So I too have an interest in Liverpool particularly Walton.
peter winstanley
Hi Michael. Found this site the other day. What an excellent model. I spent many happy Sunday afternoons at the shed during 1962 and 63.
Vulcanspotter
How is the project going? I am wanting to build the same layout as I used to live next to Walton Triangle.
Michael Delamar
It’s going very well thank you. The layout will be at Liverpool model railway show next year. 6
