I forgot that I had a plan to add a crossover..... When Derby station was remodelled a couple of years ago, a trailing crossover was added on the Long Eaton side of the existing facing crossover at Way and Works Junction. It's much easier for me to add it on the Derby side (Rule 1 applies!). Whilst it won't get used too much, it'll add a bit of extra interest. I'll also add the double signal gantry to add a bit of height to that area of the layout. The points have just been placed for an idea of where they go and the pen is the approximate position of the gantry.

The position of the gantry will allow a bit more train to be visible when stopped at the peg.

The extension is progressing well.

The main line trailing crossover is now in place, along with the extension of roads 12/13 - also including a crossover.

This will add a bit extra to the operation and the extension will allow "visible" stabling of  2+5 NMT (must crack on with it).

Next up will be the extension of roads 9-11.

My current preferred method of tracklaying is PVA glue every 3-4 sleeper and weighing the track down for 24 hours. I use 12mm MDF rectangles cut slightly larger than a convenient weight (a brick). MDF is used as it is a very flat surface to spread the weight.

I thought he’s a bit messy too, Andy…at least your mess is useful stuff. Mick needs 3 different pens, 3 knives, 10's of drill bits…for tracklaying!!??

I reckon he puts it all there to make it look like he’s been busy ;)

Looking grand Mick :good:

I have conversations of a similar nature, with my 16 yr old daughter, on that topic.....    :jester:

I have even considered shadow boards for the shelves in the cupboards, but realised that she would have to look up from the floor, where the clothes lie, to use them.   :unknw_mini:

If she's anything like my Son, she'd only look up, if her phone told her to......

Cheers,

Phil.

Due to the domestic authorities being absent for a few days, the kitchen has been commandeered for tracklaying of the new middle fiddle yard board to take place.

Hopefully, it'll be finished in the next couple of days.

Tracklaying done.

Wiring should be easy. 2 DCC buses - one for each group of 10 tracks.
