Sutton Bridge Junction T&RSMD Network Rail

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm in the process of building a network rail depot with maintenance shed for network rail test vehicles and a traction depot with a washing plant either side of them with a refilling point for loco's and stock, the layout isn't based on any region. The size of the layout is two 6ft x 2ft boards with a fiddle yard for trains to come off seen and the layout will be dcc throughout, The reason I'm building the layout is I have a strong connection network rail vehicle as I'm a fitter at derby maintaining either DRS class 37s or NWR fleet of class 31. I'll post some pictures soon!

Please remember that yards and depots track are not straight so I'm trying to do something a bit different. Hope you all like. I really like to have some constructive criticism please.

Is that layout stood up on the upstairs landing? I thought I didn't have much room, looks like going to bed in the rorz101uk household may be a bit of an obstacle course?

I like the look of this layout, strikes me as something a little different.

I'm having problems trying to get the washing plant with traction depot!

In what way? Are you stuck for width - may be worth dropping out a siding as I did on DL. It also looks less "forced in". Sometimes. less is more.

Have you got a more aerial view of the washer/carriage depot?

Cheers,

Mick

Do you mean there's not enough room to put the curve in from the point? Maybe a bit of a reverse curve would work?

Maybe get rid of the short siding (and point) where the 37 is?

Cheers,

Mick

The layout is looking Great Rory.

Can I suggest if you are having a washing plant that you have it on the loop of a passing loop (if you can) as they would not run a dirty engine through clean rollers they would drive it through one side then out on the other you can also have one engine washed and waiting and one going through the wash plant.

Having the wash plant just in a siding does not make sense.

Keep the pictures coming?

Pete
