MartinRS
I don't know if this link is helpful. https://archive.org/details/thosfirthsonslim00firtrich It shows a few pictures of the railway at the nearby Thomas Firth site, which amalgamated with John Brown and Company to create Forgemasters. The photographs include some nice dual gauge track. I remember seeing a track plan of the site in the switchboard battery room in the 1980s. The plan re-appeared on the wall of one of the manager's office at a site now occupied by Gipple (I think).

Ruston
It was good to see the old layout again, at the Middleton Railway, today. Charlie Strong has sold the former Grimethorpe No1 to the British Steel Corporation.

Guess the maintenance guys will have to come and re-rail the hoist carriage. Steve N

John_41241
sorry for the lack of updates I've been extremely tied up due to my dad having a stroke & getting the house sorted for his return so, here's some photos of my newest loco, river don works 23, based off of eastmoor steelworks number 21... yhis repaint was done by Ben Siddons of Repaints by Ben (find him on Facebook) and the weathering done by Ben Fawkes of @vlogthatrain31 (find him on Instagram) I'm outstanded by the quality! 9

Holmside
Er, having yet to summon enough courage to subject a pristine model to weathering, I still regard this weathering business as rather a ‘black art’ (yes, extraordinarily feeble and doubtless unoriginal joke intended). That said, could I ask if john_41241 would briefly describe how he achieved these (to my eye at least) totally convincing results in this case ? I've used paint only in some of my wagons, I'd suggest trying on a wagon & seeing how you find jt.... attached below is a wagon

Sandhole
Just now, Sandhole said: Here's the prototype working on Trafford Park. Sorry the shots aren't top quality. Regards, Chris. I hunted this loco for a long time when I took shots on 'The Park'. I found it shunting a rake of 'Airfix' tankers into the ESSO refinery. This was the only time I saw anything move on these sidings. I wish I'd taken shots of the tank wagons sitting on these rails. There was' at least, one timber framed tank wagon left. I am trying to caopture this weathered finish on my Hornby model. Chris.
