Narrow Gauge Jordan
Hi all, been a while since anything has happened with the layout, other than testing new locos on it. BSC River Don Works has had it’s debut at the Yorkshire Wolds railway’s model railway exhibition back on the 16th of March. It went very smoothly with only track cleaning causing any problems. A nice mix of locos from my own collection and others’, everything from a BR (LM) gala with 2 1f 0-6-0Ts and a jinty to a peckett and Barclay, even BR diesels like the 20 and 03. Hopefully more can be attended in the future. Since the exhibition I’ve been busy wagon building, some Parkside 16t minerals and a bogie flat wagon for scrap and steel traffic. 13

One is powered by power bogies of an unknown origin. The other is a scratch built chassis with a motor and a flex coupling a little like the Bachmann designs used today

John_41241
Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of updates recently, so work has begun to extend the layout into having two 2ft fiddle yards, one either end. The track is currently on order & due in the coming week. In the meantime, we have some repaints that have returned to us from Repaints By Ben on Facebook

John_41241
So. River Don will be getting a new loco! KR models have today announced two new locomotives. These are the Haydock foundry well tanks & a Hunslet bobo! Bellerophon is the only preserved example of the well tank!

You've as much chance of seeing those on your layout as I have of plaiting sawdust.

RMweb Gold Regularity Posted January 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2021 Crowd funding usually requires pledges of commitment before it happens, rather than actual expenditure up front. If it isn’t that sort of set up, then yes, a fool and his money soon go separate ways...

John_41241
so. unfortunately the 3 way point decided to give up the ghost the other day... and work has already started on replacing it.. and I've finally started the extension I said I'd do, figured it was the perfect time. see the attached images, we also have a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/3050100385107537/?ref=share and an Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/p/CQJNjNongKa/?utm_medium=copy_link and just for the fun of it! a photo of all 14 of my 03s
John_41241
some more updates recently & two repaints have been completed!! So first, the layout update... first of all I've got the layout fully working now, and I've decided to isolate the line into the furnace & will be adding rolling corrogated doors/shutters there... the fiddle yard extension is well underway, but (typical me) I glued the wood the wrong way so doesn't line up right so isn't secured yet.... lol! so, onto the repaints.. Once again these have been done by my good friend Ben from Repaints by Ben (a link will be left at the bottom of this post) first up is my Hardys Hobbies ugly kit which Ben has built & painted.. this includes a number of extra detailing parts to make it look much more detailed! The livery is an adaption of the keighley and worth valley railways 57 "Samson" into British steel, see the photo below.. the second repaint is a Ruston 48DS into corus yellow, to fit in with the 20 & 03... this includes a flashing orange light in the roof.... https://www.facebook.com/RepaintsByBen/
