Allegheny1600
Hi All, Apologies for my late posting here but WHAT a great show and thanks to all involved! Another 1st timer, i went with 77philG in his lwb landy and four others from Leigh MRC on the Saturday. What a time we had - the day flew by so fast, i was quite surprised when it was time to go . Really nice to meet Andy Y and see Keyhaven for first time - lovely stuff! Hi to any/all other rmwebbers who where lurking nearby, sorry i didn't introduce myself to you guys! Don't remember all the layouts but the exeptional layouts for me have to be 82G, Rowlands Castle and Ynysarwed Sidings - WOW !!! I think all of these are 2nd or 3rd (at least!) viewings and i never tire of them! Just realised as i write that - thats one layout for each of the main scales, hmmm! Hope to be there again next year and see some of you before then! Cheers, John E.
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted February 9, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2010 My personal favourite was Rowlands Castle. I'd not seen it before at a show and i must say the execution was superb - didn't even mind the Spitfire drone! My mum remembers the wartime period from her childhood and was very taken with the layout too.
RMweb Premium DLT Posted February 12, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2010 On behalf of myself, and other Stafford Railway Circle members who aren't on the forum, I would like to thank everyone who attended the show, exhibitors, traders and visitors, you have all helped to make it a huge success. Our only concern now is how do we make next year's show even better! However, I'm sure ELTEL will have a few ideas up his sleeve, so watch this space..... As an exhibitor, I would like to thanks the Stafford members for a great weekend, all very well organised. I thought the balance of layouts and traders was fine, no suggestions for changes. Good to meet some fellow RMwebbers and put faces to the names. And thanks to the Clutton team for their company on Saturday night when the pub ran out of beer. We were across the aisle from Rowlands Castle, and I quite enjoyed the Spitfires. Dave.T
chrisf
More apologies for an even later posting [laptop captured by repair shop and only released yesterday]: Excellent show, fast becoming one of the key national events. It was good to meet some inmates of RMWeb but there must have been some whose identities I didn't twig. I wear a badge in a lanyard hung round my neck which proclaims to those who want to know - and the majority who do not - that I am 'chrisf'. I've suggested before that others do likewise! Admittedly it got hidden by my extra woolly layer this time. Trade support - must have been good 'cos I spent loads. Layouts - many good ones to suit all tastes. All hail to Tim V and the Clutton crew for copping best layout! Good to see our leader with a smile on his face too. Chris
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted February 14, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 14, 2010 On behalf of all Stafford Railway Circle exhibition team and members I would like to say a big thank you for all the positive comments that have appeared since we closed the doors just seven days ago. We had a record attendance of well 5300 I do not think we had any negative comments about the exhibition. It will not however stop the exhibition team and I for looking at ways of improving next years exhibition if only fine tuning. Next year we will be using at least all three full halls and a increase in the number of quality layouts and traders. So a big thank you to all who attended the exhibition. Details of our 2011 Exhibition will appear website around the end of September www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk ELTEL Exhibition Manager
StaffsOatcake
I think there were an adequate number of box movers TBH. Encouraging more specialist trade will encourage more of the modellers - the exhibits suited that market segment IMO whereas bringing in more RTR wouldn't bring more of the collectors/families IMO. Maybe you're right but I can't seem to blag big discounts of specialists like I can retailers and I'm always after bargains. I have numerous hobbies and projects to fund let alone a wife and family who seem a black hole, a few pence saved here and there is more money to spend on my models and beer Loved the layout by the way. Andy Y
but I can't seem to blag big discounts of specialists like I can retailers? That's precisely why they're specialists.
Kempenfelt
Another belated thankyou to the exhibition committee! I was one of Clutton's operational team and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend! Many congrats to Tim to scoop the best visiting layout award, Clutton is the culmination of just over 20 years of Tim's hard work and I know he was very proud and supprised to recieve the trophy. Nice to socialise with you too Dave, after drinking the first pub dry we managed to find another we plentiful stock of real ale together with a large choice of malts to finish up! :D Best of luck for 2011!
